i'd be for it, 6th rounders are glorified UDFA's anyway.
Totally disagree on the value of a 6th round pick. They are very valuable.

On Foles. I would love him as a backup and would give up a 6th rounder for sure but here are my questions. What is the condition based on? He isn't going to play except for injury, so I'm not sure how you do the condition. I guess you can do a game day roster thing. More importantly you are doing this (if you do) for one year because he is getting like $10M next year so you'd cut him after 2016. In 2016 he has a $6M roster payment due. Was that already paid? If not I'm not trading for him until after it is.

If I'm reading for Foles I'm making him redo his contract prior, no way am I paying him that money as a BU. I may give him hefty playing bonus but not 10M to sit and watch.

according to the story LA would be on the hoof for all but 1.8M if the trade went down

How is that possible? Or do you mean just 2016? If the $6M for 2016 is on the Rams I like Foles as a target and cut him after the year to avoid the $10M in 2017. But at this point let's see what the draft yields. Maybe we get a guy that can be our injury replacement this year as well as our guy of the future

Of Fold only costs 1.8M and has no cut penalty I don't think we'd find a more ready BU in the late rounds of this draft. Now if a QB is taken round 3 or 4 then I say just go with what we have and no to Foles.

Agree. It's more the cost to trade for him I guess. We could draft a QB of the future and still acquire Foles. Go with Romo, Rookie and Foles. Try to get Showers on PS and let Moore go. It isn't like Moore showed much at all so he really wouldn't be a reason to not make a move. Perfect example of a guy we should be looking to upgrade to make this team better and deeper.

Cowboys CB Brandon Carr Agrees To Pay Cut
32 mins ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Albert Breer is reporting that Cowboys CB Brandon Carr has agreed to a pay cut to remain with the team.

Previous reports mentioned that Dallas wanted Carr to take a pay cut and agree to reduce his $9.1 million salary for the 2016 season, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

According to Breer, Carr’s 2016 base salary is now expected to be under $6 million following the pay reduction.

Carr wound up benefiting from the Cowboys inability to sign either Nolan Carroll or Patrick Robinson.

Keeping Carr at a reduced rate was likely their best option at this point in free agency. However, had they released him outright, Dallas would have ran the risk of losing Carr to another team who may have been willing to pay him around $5-6 million.

Carr, 29, was in the fourth year of his five-year, $50.1 million contract that included $25.5 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $9.1 million for the 2016 season and another $10 million in 2017.

In 2015, Carr appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and recorded 76 tackles, a fumble recovery and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

Read $4.25m somewhere. Better to pay him less I guess, but still a mistake to not cut him and use his dollars elsewhere during FA. I guess we can hope it's a true competition and someone just beats him out and pushes him to a reserve role or he finally plays better. Still waiting for his promise to "set the world on fire" or whatever bull shit line it was he fed us last year...

If we draft Ramsey our secondary will be better whether Carr is in it or not and if we draft a pass rusher like Bosa or a guy like Spence in the second it will make all of our DBs better.

OK so now we have Scandrick, Claiborne, Carr, Mitchell, Jones, Church, Wilcox, Heath . # 29 played at the end of he year as well.

I was totally set on Ramsey being the pick. I still think it will be him but this does make me think. Thursday can't come quick enuff

I think it's Bosa or Elliott if we stay at 4. I think it's possible Dallas trades down with someone wanting an OT

I'm thinking this too. I think they trade back if Tunsil is sitting there at 4, maybe stay in the top 10 but pick up a 3rd or so and still get Bosa or Zeke.

So two NFL starters in Scandrick and Jones:noidea: One is too young to know what we have and the other coming off a major injury....PLENTY of room for Ramsey on this team IMO...

Maybe the team is worried SD takes Ramsey and since we already screwed the pooch in FA when it comes to all of the DBs that were available we now have no choice but to retain Carr. If so and we don't draft Ramsey/Hargreaves he won't agree to a pay cut knowing we have no leverage and are desperate. At least now the option of Ramsey/Hargreaves lets him know he will be cut if he doesn't reduce his salary.

Because you think Ramsey is gone? Or you think we pass on him?

I think there will be a trade at 3, 4 or 5 for a team wanting Tunsil. I think both he and Stanley are both great OT prospects.

Carr took a pay cut yesterday.

I'm hoping that one of the teams that traded out of the top of the draft want to try to sneak back in because the player they would have taken ends up still being there.

What if Tennessee calls us on Thursday night when Tunsil is still there and offers us their pick at 15 plus their two 2nd's they picked up this year? I'd prefer to stay in the top 10, but that would be a nice haul for us. Tenn would want to do it because they they still get the guy they wanted/need while still picking up an extra 1st next year. If we could stay top 10 though then there is still plenty of impact guys to come in and help. At 15 things really start to thin out, so we would need a bigger return IMO.

Yes. Maybe my post was a little convoluted. That's what I meant. If we didn't rework him before the draft and didn't go corner early he may think he has the team over a barrel and wouldn't agree to a pay cut and could leave us desperate enough to have to pay him. So yesterday the threat of corner at 4 is enough to get him to re-do the deal because he knows ifd we take Ramsey/Hargreaves and he doesn't reduce his salary he is on the street. The downside is if we waited and took Ramsey we could have just cut his ass. But, depth at corner is always a great thing.

I would do that unless I love a player at 4. If there is a guy in this draft you see as a can't miss superstar you just take him and don't ever try to complicate things or look back. If there isn't a guy we love at 4 I take that trade back in a second as there are a lot of DL that will be sitting there at 15 worthy of the pick and more than able to help this team. Plus, maybe Hargreaves drops???

Yeah if we have three 2nd's that would be massive. We could then get a decent guy at 15 along with three contributors in the 2nd. Spending one on the QB of the future would be a given, as well.
