You mean better be on their board according to you. They may only value,2-3 players for the top ten.

so you think that of the top 10 players in the draft the cowboys may only value 2 or 3 of them? that's a pretty limited way of thinking what if those 3 were all gone by pick 4? their 1st round draft board probably has 10-15 players that they value and like i said if, and personally i hope they stay at 4, JJ decides to trade down 4 or 5 picks and add another pick or 2 with it they will have a list of players they value.

I am saying, I have no idea who or how many they value. I hope they have more then 2-3 players they are targeting.

No. At least what I am saying is they may have 2 or 3 they think are incredible Football players and in a class by themselves. Heck, it may only be one guy. I have no idea, but you don't likely pass on a guy like that for a guy that you have a first round grade on, but don't value as a super star even if it nets you another pick. Not all first round grades are the same...

Just a rumor of course, but Thank God we have the best C/G combo in the league if this happens in Philly. Can't imagine two of the highest paid tackles in the league is a smart use of cap dollars. For us this would be a tough task, but for every other team it would be a nightmare:

Muhammad Wilkerson - DL - Jets
The Eagles, Bears, and Bucs could have varying levels of interest in franchise-tagged RE Muhammad Wilkerson.

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini polled the rest of the ESPN NFL Nation reporters. Phil Sheridan, who covers the Eagles, cites Wilkerson's local connection, as he went to Temple and grew up in the area, He'd also be an upgrade inside to pair with Fletcher Cox in new DC Jim Schwartz's 4-3 defense. The Bears have the cap space and have been loosely connected to Wilkerson over the past month. Tampa Bay is one of the more pass-rush desperate teams in the league. Wilkerson trade chatter will heat up before the draft, but it's tough to see him actually being dealt.

Well this doesn't sound concerning at all!!! Then again it's only April. I think we all saw how important he was to our Offense. With the lack of explosive players on this team Dunbar is huge for us if healthy. When the safeties and LBs need to worry about the dump off to him it opens up the rest of the field and we saw how he turned those short passes into big first downs. Then without him on the field later in the year the team kept trying the same plays to others and they pretty much never worked.

Lance Dunbar - RB - Cowboys
Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ACL) said there is "no timeline" for his return.

"I’m just taking it day by day, getting better," Dunbar said. "Just trying to get better each and every day because if you do that, at the end I’ll be the best I can be." Dunbar tore his ACL last October. He only recently began jogging and admitted his recovery could be a slow process. It remains possible he begins the season on the PUP list.

I am looking for another option on 3rd down other than Dunbar If I am the Cowboys Dixon , Prossie, etc

Dunbar might not be really ready for football till the 2017 season

His health is definitely in question, but not his value to the team. I'd be very surprised if they spent an early pick on a 3rd down back unless it was someone they felt could be an every down back as well. McFadden isn't lasting forever and Morris is limited in his skill set and doesn't really fill that role in this offense. I think Dunbar if he and Romo both stayed healthy would have been looked at as one of the best 3rd Down RBs in the league right now. BUT,,,as you say if there is reason to believe he won't be healthy this year then we need to think about getting someone else in here. The 3rd down back sure as heck isn't Morris and McFadden isn't shaking his injury prone tag just because he stayed upright for most of last year...

I agree....satisfied with the talent level on the 3rd team is no way to build a winner.
Dixon just might end up being game planed for on Sunday. This guy can catch the football and runs with a mission.

I think they have to and will but it won't be early IMO unless they really love someone. I'm thinking 4th round or even later. If they didn't go RB last year when there were a ton of RBs and we had an even bigger question mark, I don't see them feeling the need to jump on one early this year. You have a fragile McFadden penciled in at #1, Morris whose skill set doesn't fit all of the things this team likes to do with their RBs and Dunbar who is still hurting and whose season (at least the start) is in question. But, it will be more a rotation guy IMO that they bring in via draft or UDFA (or hopefully both). They still have Malena if needed and if healthy Dunbar is not going to be beaten out for his role. Besides a healthy Dez he is our best 3rd down player and plays STs. McFadden and Morris don't. If we bring in a guy to fill that type of role it probably means Dunbar is not healthy and he's not 3rd string unless 3rd downs don't count...

not too impressed with the quality of the RB's that will be available late in this draft

Last year was the year for a RB. How we didn't come out of that draft with at least one is a real head scratcher. But, I think there are good players at every position every year. I'm sure there are some out there. Will we find one? Who knows...

Brandon Carr
Cowboys CB Brandon Carr said he plans to be back in Dallas next year, despite reports that he could be cut or asked to take a pay cut.

“I do, unless you guys know something I don’t know,” Carr said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I just prepare for whatever happens and be ready. Right now, my thought process is get my body ready, get my mind mentally ready for the grind, and just be ready for wherever action comes.

Carr wouldn’t say whether the team had approached him about reducing his salary, and stressed that he loves playing for the Cowboys.

“You know I don’t like to talk about those things,” Carr said. “I’ll let that side, that situation handle itself outside the media. What I will tell you is that I just love being a Cowboy; I love being in Dallas and the community. I look forward to playing another year.

Not real deep .Elliott is a stud, Henry, depends on where he lands. Put him in an offense like the Cowboys and he'd be an absolute hammer .I think the Eddie George comparisons are valid

My guess is 31 teams would have already cut Carr and moved on...probably with a different and cheaper yet better replacement in FA...not the Cowboys...we love our own. you can never be afraid to cut a player who doesn't live up to his cap hit. There is ALWAYS another option.

49ers & Cowboys Reportedly Interested In Trading For Eagles RB Ryan Mathews
6 mins ago 49ers, Cowboys, Eagles Leave a comment

Tony Pauline of WalterFootball.com reports that the Cowboys and 49ers are expected to have interest in trading for Eagles RB Ryan Mathews if Philadelphia comes away with Ezekiel Elliott at No. 8 overall.

While the Cowboys could use another running back, Pauline admits that it’s unlikely the Eagleswould want to cut a deal with a division rival.

The 49ers hired Chip Kelly several months ago as their new head coach, so he’s plenty familiar with what Mathews brings to the table as a running back.

Before the start of free agency, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that the Eagles have made it known that they were willing to trade Mathews for the right price.

However, this was before they shipped DeMarco Murray to the Titans.

Mathews, 28, is in the second year of his three-year, $11 million contract that includes $5 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Mathews would free up $2 million in available cap space while creating $2 million in dead money.

In 2015, Mathews appeared in 13 games and ran for 539 yards on 107 carries (5 YPC) to go along with 20 receptions for 146 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 running back out of 69 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a potential trade involving Mathews as the news is available.

Or we could just draft a RB?
