Rangers need to acquire Ryan Lavarnway. The Sox just DFA ed him. He was once a top prospect.

After Gallo, Alfaro and Chi Chi I believe I am more excited about Mazara than anyone else currently. I can't wait to see what he does in 2015 and see if he is a late season callup like Keith Law thinks he could be.

Agreed I was pretty high on him and Guzman when they both signed, though Guzman has tailed off quite a bit, at least in relation to Mazara

FWIW...I, too, believe he'll test the market. Unless the Rangers offer him stupid money. (highly unlikely)

Posted this before, but for Darvish to have 2017 turn into a player option:

By finishing second last year, Darvish can opt out of the final season (2017) of his contract IF:
1) he wins the Cy Young once in the next two seasons
2) he finishes second through fourth in BOTH of the next two seasons.

Darvish’s current contract goes through 2017 with him making $11 million that season (the highest annual value during the life of the contract).

So not impossible, but he would have his work cut out for him too

As long as JD puts forth a good effort to extend him I will be satisfied. I think a "good effort" should be started this offseason. The sooner you try the easier it will be to sign him.

Yeah Guzman did not have a good year at Hickory last year.

I have seen you post this before and I appreciate it. The Rangers have time based on this before making a decision. I would not jump the gun too soon.
