Do you guys really think there is this mass CRAY computer that is keeping track of the votes from all the 8 year olds around the country who vote? It's all a marketing scam and MLB sells advertising space based on all the clicks. It is an irrelevant game. Only event I try to catch is the Futures Game.

It should be, but it isn't.

It's not "really" a game at all, and yet the former commissioner saw fit to make into one, for some odd and unexplainable reason.

Sorry....didn't see your post re: same.

Printing stuff costs money, so I get the need of eliminating it. Lame thing is they won't pass that savings on to you I bet.
I have paid a fee in the past when buying tickets online and printing them out myself. I always thought they should pay me a fee for that.

If Mitch is the best option for DH bat from the rest of the other options ... it makes no sense having Prince playing 1b and Mitch watching. If there are better DH bat options than Mitch ... but he's second fiddle at 1b ... then it serves TEX to trade him for something of apparent more value and install Gallo or Rua at 1b.

Been saying this since we acquired Fielder

Lots of offense. Zero pitching today. Good days at the plate from Martin, and Andrus. Rua with another hit today, and Gallo with a walk. Also, Alfaro had the game tying single.

Everyone thought it would be impossible to get rid of Young as well and we wound up with Bonilla for him who finished strong last year.

Big difference ... Choo after 2015 has five years and $102 million remaining. His salary jumps from $14 mil to $20mil not until 2016 so he's 'relatively' cheap for the last time this season. As for MY ... he had one year left at $16 mil/year and TEX sent him and money to PHL for Bonilla.

So -- Choo w/$102 mil and five years its lots different than one year @ $16 mil minus cash. All TEX did was pay PHL remaining salary due Young for 2012 so didn't cost them anything. So was Young and money for Bonilla.

They paid a portion of Young's salary, not the remaining amount. Choo is also is not as close to being completely washed up the way Young was at the time. You pointed out one difference, but there are many others also. We would have to pay a hefty price though. There are ways of getting something done. Just as almost no one thought we could trade Young and we did we can also trade Choo even though a lot of folks think it is impossible.

Could always flip him to PHL for Hamels even up. Money is about a push ... and PHL gets a free year of Choo.

Rangers SP Yu Darvish undergoes Tommy John surgery

1937347.jpg

Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on Tuesday, according to the Star-Telegram. The procedure was done by Dr. James Andrews in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

Darvish missed the final weeks of the 2014 season due to elbow inflammation, and experienced tightness in his right triceps on March 5 before an MRI revealed a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. After multiple options from different doctors, Darvish and the Rangers opted for surgery, ending his 2015 season.

Darvish went 10-7 with a 3.06 ERA in 22 starts, tossing two complete games and one shutout last season. He is 39-25 with a 3.27 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and 680:218 K:BB ratio over 83 MLB starts (545 1/3 innings).

I wouldn't be surprised if Scheppers ends up needing a procedure after being shut down last year

Gallardo had an effective outing against a fairly meaty dodger lineup.

That's true. I overlooked Gallardo's respectable outing. It was overshadowed by Tepesch. :L

That was my point. That is why trading him would be different than trading an almost washed up Young.

I have no doubt that if Choo proves himself healthy we could easily draw the interest of other teams. However, I'm not sure that's wise.

That would be nice, but I think the Phillies want back a good young catcher and some other pieces.

Tep said he had learned from last year in ST, apparently he hasn't figured it out quite yet. NMart seems to have a better grasp so far this year.

I disagree. I'm not sold on Hamels at 31 years old going forward and being on the hook for that amount of money. Choo's skill set is more likely to maintain IMO given the wear Hamels arm has taken pitching 200 innings for how many years now? We see these top tier pitchers fall apart from 33 on. Santana, Halladay, Lee, and so on. All considered the best pitchers in baseball in their time. None will be pitching ever again IMO.
