What are the Rangers supposed to do here then? They can't plan for Profar to be a part of the team because they don't know if/when he'll be healthy.

They'll take the necessary steps they need to take like every other sports team. He's young and he's cheap but still a great amount of talent. Just let him have the surgery, fully heal up and go from there. You make it sound like this thing is going to dictate the whole franchise's existence.

If I need to be evaluated by trainers or doctors, remind me not to go to the Rangers staff. Track record for injuries aint real good

I remember when people used to act like I was crazy for bringing up the idea of trading Profar for Stanton. Their reasoning was always because he's hurt to much. Hindsight is 20/20, but SOB I wish JD would've pulled the trigger.

Rangers staff told him to have the damn surgery. Can't force him to go under the knife.

He's like 21... and he's already "done"??? :bullshit:
  • If his surgery is successful, there is no reason to think he can't continue to come back at his age. Just wish he had it this last year but he didn't and we will wait and see.

No. The reasoning was Profar would just be the start of the package it would've taken to get Stanton. Not to mention our next top 5 prospects.

I don't remember anybody was opposed to trading Profar and certainly not Profar for Stanton package deal. And from all indication JD would regularly make calls to Miami for Stanton and they just resisted not only the Rangers but every other team hence giving him his mega deal.

Maybe the Rangers can play Jurickson Profar's scouting report at 2B, because there sure are a lot of fans on here who would cheer for it!

POTENTIAL talent. It's kind of scary how many of you are forgetting that. Jurickson Profar did not transition well from MiLB to MLB when he arrived in 2013. Yes, I get there's a whole argument to be made about how he was handled, etc. That's why 2014 was so important for Profar... and he missed that entire year of development.

And now we have to hit the reset button again. That's really really not good for a player OR a franchise who was expecting that 1st Rd draft pick to have 1st Rd draft pick talent (I assume all of the hype about Profar is why so many of you are so high on him). My point is - Profar had a lot of POTENTIAL, and now has lost a ton of time when that potential should be transitioning to a full-time role. That's a bad thing.

Is Justin Upton still on the table for Profar:L

This stings now, but who knows how it would have played out. This does however make you re-think the options that were available in trade in 2013. Sucks but its just the way shit happens in baseball.

@JeffWilson_FWST: Jon Daniels: Labrum injury Jurickson Profar had in 2010 could be cause of latest woes. If only labrum is fixed, Profar could play in 2015.

He's what we used to see regularly on ESPN and what we see on Facebook and even DMN on occasion. Just knee jerk fans that speak out of their ass many times.

First, Profar was handled extremely poorly. He was not as bad as you make it sound either.

Second, wtf are freaking out about. This season never hinged on Profar's health. So again, I ask the question. What do you want the organization to do? Dump him?

Wow. And here I thought this was a forum of knowledgeable baseball fans.

I'm not saying I know everything and honestly I probably know a fraction of what many others on this board know about not only the Rangers but all the aspects of baseball. I do know is that I and most of us on this forum don't knee jerk like what you're doing right now.
