Shields must have priced him self out of s lot of markets. Last I heard he and teams were something like 30 million apart.

When I saw that about Victor I wondered if they might want Fielder back. lol They aren't sure if Miggy is going to make it back for the start of the season also.

I don't know if I agree with TR's assessment of this situation. Listening to JD this offseason it sure seems like LF is Rua's to lose. I think JD has confidence in Rua and barring an injury or a bad ST I think Ryan will get the job. Of the other candidates I am most intrigued by Hoying.

i just don't think he has earned a spot. would rather see them use that spot for someone like Smolinski or Ludwick. Moreland just doesn't hold up for a whole season and once he goes down onto the DL he never recovers.

Ludwick isn't a good name to bring up to replace a guy because he is injured too often.

Also, if you replace Moreland you really need to replace him with someone who can play a good 1B and who has some power.

I agree, and based on what we saw last season that's how it should be. Rua looks like he might be a slightly better version of a right handed David Murphy.

I think his biggest hurdle is to prove that he can actually play a decent LF. He didn't really get the opportunity to prove that last year and I think he can do that in ST.

I didn't hear the Levine interview yesterday but Bacsik is making it seem today as though Thad has Detwiler in the bullpen and not in the rotation.

That is kinda what I thought after they failed to find another lefty for the pen and then acquired another starter candidate in Ranaudo.

I guess that means they're giving at least one of the Nicks a full legit shot at going into the season as a member of the rotation.
