gotta hope kirkman claudio or robbie can hold up as the lefty specialist i guess, I'm not interested in any of the others and would just as well have cotts back vs any of them

I wonder if any of our lefty minor league relievers will get a shot. Two names to remember might be Martire Garcia and Edwar Cabrera. Cabrera has started and relieved in his minor league career.

I had rather have any of the seven than Kirkman. How man attempts will it take to prove he can't pitch in MLB? This guy has had more breaks than anyone I know and failed every time.

It seems there are a couple nice surprises every year coming out of camp, you never know who just might win a job.

I haven't been crazy about the team continuing to run Kirk out there in the past, but all I can say is as long as they keep making that decision they must see something I haven't yet. I have no choice it seems but to root for him to figure it out, until he is no longer here.

i will also support whoever is on the mound but can't see how Kirkman still gets there. Oh well just wait and see.

That is a good theory about Kirkman, but it has one flaw in my opinion. The fact that they have had him here for 10 years and he has yet to have any sustained success shows they have a long history of being wrong about him. They have thought they have seen something in him for a long time now and have been wrong over and over again.

I am going to say our big pitching surprises in camp will be Cabrera in the pen and Asher in the rotation. I don't think that Asher will make the club, but he could be the one that makes the team take notice and keep him in mind should a need for a starting pitcher arise early in the season. I love the stories about the guys who come to camp and surprise everyone.

Interesting comments. Jeff has not seen him. Wash is gone. So who is THEY?

I don't know that he has ever been on the club because Wash wanted him to be as much as JD and some other decision makers have wanted him to be. It is mainly up to JD that Kirkman is still around. I am sure he uses others to advise him such as player development guys and Thad Levine. If it is one guy or twenty guys involved they have been wrong about Kirkman.

If there is a need and he has a good ST(praying for no injuries, though we all know they happen) maybe Alec ends up like NMart last season and has an opportunity.

Baseball success stories are exciting, such a great game

Daniels: Rangers have about 12 candidates for team's top draft pick (fourth overall) in June | Dallas Morning News

The draft class is considered better than in the last two years. The early line lists Vanderbilt middle infielder Dansby Swanson, Louisville right-hander Kyle Funkhouser and Duke right-hander Michael Matuella as potential No. 4 picks, but it is early in the process.
Left-hander Brady Aiken, whom Houston selected with the first pick last year but did not sign, is also a candidate, depending upon his medical situation.

Gotta cheer for a guy with a name like Funkhouser don't ya?

EA has a great personality and interacts very well with the fans, I always enjoy visiting with him. I was giving him shit yesterday about how much better he looked this year vs last year when he showed up to FF with that goofy ass Abe Lincoln beard. We got some laughs out of it and he said "yeah I think I will keep it like this from now on" while he rubbed the little tuft of a goatee he had. Really hope he is focused and has a good season.

Rua making it out was a bonus, he has become my new favorite of the young guys. He seemed much smaller of a guy sitting there next to Gallo. I happened to have an extra bat for him to sign, as I had items prepared prior to the event for each player to sign. I managed with the help of my wife to lug around 90+ items all over the ballpark yesterday and up and down all the stairs. It was a great time but lots of work. My legs and feet are paying their dues today. My back held up though and I hope I didn't mess up my injections from Wednesday.

Colby, Prince and Derek Holland are always very friendly and outspoken when we talk to them. As one of the younger guys Gallo spoke up as well. Some of the players get overwhelmed I think with 5000 people standing around wanting autographs and gawking at them. There is also a difference with the few that don't speak great English it seems, they tend to say few words as you'd expect.

Overall the event is a lot of fun and great for the fans and players interaction. I got to spend about 25 minutes with Jeff as there weren't a lot of folks around when I went to his signing spot. He's very excited to be here and managing this team. Go Rangers!

It stood out to me that Fielder had his whole family with him, in a good way. I wished more fans had been in line for Banister, but he was signing at the same time Gallo was, so that didn't help. I really get the impression that the Rangers are going to benefit tremendously by being the first team to give him a shot at leading a club.

Sounds like your back's holding up pretty well there, Murph. Glad to here it!

Anybody like this talk I've been hearing about speeding up the game? I sure don't!

Not at all. I vote no. Baseball just needs playing not changing.
