And that's why the budget is of little concern.

Yes, the budget is having little effect on us this year. It would have affected us last year had not the injuries exploded on the scene. It can affect us greatly going forward though. It is far from insignificant in the long term discussion of the franchise.

Are you serious? Really?

There are some folks who actually think you have to have well more than 5 starters in camp. I am not talking about having 3-4 projects either, they mean major league ready starters. They take the saying "you can never have enough pitching" seriously. I have never understood that myself as it completely ignores other roster requirements and budget requirements.

I think if that is the case then we should trade Odor eventually. I know those who are fed up with Elvis will shudder at keeping him, but in your scenario Elvis is playing well. In that scenario I go with the theory that you keep the best and trade the rest. Now if Odor steps up and hits about .310 and has 25 HRs this year then Elvis would become the odd man out, but I don't think anyone expects that out of Odor. There are just so many ways this can pan out this year, but it will take getting Profar a lot of everyday at bats up here to make those determinations.

Do not put it past that Odor hits close to 300 with 20-25 HRs. As an example in 2013 at Myrtle Beach which is not a hitters park he was leading the High A with 33 doubles in 379 ABs with a Slg Pct of 454. When called up to Frisco in 134 ABs he hit 8 2b, 2 Trips and 6 HRs with a Slg Pct of 530. His combined avg was 305 in 2013. He started off slow at Frisco in 2013 with a Slg Pct of 450 and was called up to the Rangers and in 386 Abs hit 14 2b, 7 trips and 9 HRs with a Slg Pct of 402. He will turn 21 on Feb 3rd. He has the potential regarding his power. I see him as a 280 hitter with good potential to hit 20 doubles and 20 HRs. He still needs work in his defense. I still say we want Profar to be our future 3b if he can stay healthy. So I prefer to keep them both.

Call me crazy, but I don't see Odor as a 25 hr guy. Maybe 20 in his very best years at best

I think most peg him to be a 10-15hr guy.....that could maybe flirt with 20hr.

NOW...if the ballpark would magically go back to being a hitters paradise for Left handed hitters... then all bets are off.

You are not crazy Romeo and I would agree on the 20 which is why I did say 20-20 at the end. I actually think he could hit 30 doubles myself. He has the strength/build for power. It was quite a learning experience for him last year. I think Xx that 10 HRs would be easy for him to attain but 15 and flirt with 20 I would agree with. Good point on the lost power at the Ballpark though.

I see JPA signed a minor league deal with the Orioles.

as was seen this last season there is always a Rua or Smolinski or one of the others that can step in for the short time and cover a lost positional player but it is rare that you can do the same with starting pitching and that was seen this last season with musical chairs rotation we endured during the season

we had 15 starters last season and most should not have seen the majors they weren't ready

Ageed.....however I believe Winding's point is, you really need to have a about 10 starters ready - no Bennie, not on the MLB roster for crying out loud - in your system.

This way when you do have injuries/fatigue/under performance, you can at least give yourself a fighting chance.

Ten is probably high IMO. But I get his point completely; like it too.

That would be a great problem to have. So are you thinking Gallo is an OF.

No one replaced the offense we were supposed to get from Prince and Choo's production wasn't replaced much more than Martin's was as a pitcher.
