I call BS. The coaching staff doesn't even know how to use Kendall Hunter, let alone LMJ.

LaMichael James - RB - 49ers

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco believes 2012 second-round pick LaMichael James "certainly does not appear to be a good fit with the 49ers."

Maiocco cites James' misfit for San Francisco's power running scheme, and notes that the Niners believe James lacks "the kind of blazing speed to succeed as solely an outside runner." On Friday, James tweeted, "I'd rather they just let me go," which he later confirmed was in reference to the 49ers. We're not sure James would fit any offensive scheme, quite frankly. He lacks lateral agility and runs with no power. He's a return specialist at best in the NFL.

I wish we would let him go. LMJ is easily the most useless RB and probably even player on our roster. The guy really brings nothing to the team on offense or special teams. A terrible fit for our offense. He struggles between the tackles, he doesn't have good vision or patience, his explosion is subpar and as said above, he doesn't have elite level speed. LET HIM WALK OR TRADE HIM!!!

Jon Baldwin - WR - 49ers

CSN Bay Area considers 49ers WR Jon Baldwin a candidate for release.

Baldwin is due a non-guaranteed $1.4 million in salary and bonuses for 2014. Part of the reason the 49ers swapped former first-round pick A.J. Jenkins for Baldwin was because of the aforementioned reason; Jenkins had two years left of guaranteed money at the time of the deal. We wouldn't expect the 49ers to give up on Baldwin before training camp, but he's going to have to earn his spot. Baldwin caught just three passes for 28 yards in seven games with San Fran.

Jon Baldwin needs to freaking get his act together and get motivated, the guy really does have talent but has yet to make any real progress as a receiver. He needs to stay his butt around the 49ers facility all offseason to work out and study, he could also go work out and study with Kaepernick and other receivers. He and Patton could make strides in the offense next season if they work hard this offseason. But of course Baldwin will keep doing what he has been doing and get cut next season.

Daniel Kilgore - G - 49ers

49ers OL Daniel Kilgore was arrested for public intoxication early last Sunday morning.

Kilgore and another male were "staggering on the sidewalk" in Kingsport, Tenn. at 2:18 AM Sunday morning and were subsequently arrested "for their safety and the welfare of the public." Kilgore was a fifth-round pick of the 49ers out of Appalachian State in 2011. He's a key reserve and will likely be in the competition for center duties if free agent Jonathan Goodwin isn't re-signed.

At least he wasn't driving. I don't have all the info and he could have been staggering to his car but at this moment we don't know that so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Let's just be glad it wasn't Aldon.

They definitely do know how to use Hunter, they just didn't use him enough. LMJ is completely different, if LMJ is ever going to be a successful NFL RB, he will have to be in an extremely specific environment and a specific role (kind of like Sproles with the Saints or Bush with the Lions). I don't believe the LMJ will ever be your regular ever down back, he just isn't that type of runner.

I do hope Hunter gets more carries next season. He has shown explosiveness when he got the chance. He needs to get better at pass protection like Gore.

I wish we could use 3 RBs like the Saints use Pierre, Sproles and Ingram, but Kap doesn't like throwing to the shorter RBs. I forgot where I read this observation, but he preferred Bruce Miller (6'2") as a checkdown option vs Gore (5'9"), Kendall (5'7"), & LMJ (5'9"). Bruce Miller was the 3rd leading receiver on the team before he went down. You can also see some of his hesitation to pass to Patton (6'0").

Here's to hoping Lattimore (5'11") and Kap can develop a kind of rhythm. It will help Kap develop the short passing game. That's where the real value will be next season.

I find it weird how quickly LMJ slowed down when he got to the NFL. Maybe he was on the juice in college or something because he was lightning fast back then. Now he's just a little fast & small. Not a great combo'.

Couple things...everyone is faster in the NFL. You have the best of the best. Second, is he heavier than he was in college?

Another thing: Chip Kelly was his college coach. Huge difference in offensive philosophy from Harbaugh/Roman.

What about the potential of trading Davis for a 3 this yr and a one next yr... To say.... Detroit/Cle/NYJ/... Hell, NE might be interested...

That would free up at least 5mil in cap space and return a decent amount

Maybe my like for Davis discolors his true contribution, but I still feel he is a top 3 TE in the NFL. I still want him on the team at this point. Just feel like we need a solid #2 with the amount of time the #2 TE is on the field and McDonald didn't cut it in his rookie season.

Easily.

Notice how the top TEs in the NFL over the last few years have had top-5 QBs throwing to them:

Gronk
Graham
Julius Thomas
Antonio Gates

...Then there's Vernon Davis.

If he were a Patriot he'd have 1500+ receiving yards.

Lol...yeah for sure...considering the Patriots throw the ball 200+ more times a year. No doubt there is good reason to question Kaep's decision making at this point in his career, but the stats have way more to do with offensive philosophy than Kaep's ability.

If all things were equal, if you gave Kaep the same number of attempts as Drew Brees had this year, his stat line would read 4,995 yards, 33 TD's, and 12 INT's, which would put him right into the conversation of a top 5 QB. If you give Kaep the same number of attempts as Brady had, Kaep's stats blow ol' Tommy Boy out of the water.

And if you give VD the same number of targets that Graham had, his stats would blow every other TE out of the water.

VD is simply one of the best, if not the best TE in the game right now. He puts up the stats to prove it, while being on a power run team. I personally would take him over anyone else at the position.

I don't like the way the Saints use their RB's, they have no chance to get into any kind of rhythm with their OL and FB. I like our system much better for the style of offense that we run. As for Kaepernick's tendencies when throwing the ball, lets not go there as it will only open up a whole new can of worms.

Kaep needs to work on going through his progressions, if not by design the short passes are generally one of the last reads for a QB. Throws to Miller a lot of time were by design as he went directly to the flat and didn't block first, there were also times that he would be split out wide.

Interesting offseason for Seattle......young team. Some history of suspensions. Will they take the offseason serious or not? Will they run into trouble?

Pete's strategy of letting players do what they want may be strained now that the rings are in hand.

Complacency is a huge risk for them or any team coming off a championship.

I was more or less just kidding around, but I would much rather get rid of someone a year too early than a year too late when no value exists.

To me a prime example is in 2010 when the Redskins should have traded Chris Cooley for a second round pick. But they held onto him and he became worthless shortly thereafter. Now, I don't see Vernon dropping off like Cooley, and he just had 900 yards and 13 td's.

I still really like Vernon and know he has a place, esp on the style of offense, like it was pointed out.

Well, a 1st and a 3rd for a 10 year vet TE is probably realistic anyway, but I was responding to mr. Negative Nancy who thinks VD would be unstoppable in an xbox offense...

Of course he would be, he's a freak athlete who will NOT be slowing down anytime soon. I could easily see another 5, 6, or 7 years of the type of production we saw this year. And that's not something to get rid of unless you have someone else who can step into his place. I didn't see shit out of Vance McDonald this year that leads me to believe he could be more than a pedestrian threat, let alone a VD type player. I hate saying these things after only someone's first year...but damn, we could have had Jordan Reed...

oh great another concussion threat that won't play more than 3 total seasons a la Jahvid Best.

I honestly was impressed with the Golden Arches development through the year. I liked his ability to contribute in the blocking scheme for our running attack. While he didn't have any 100 yard games or multiple TD's like concussion boy, he never got the opportunity since we have Vernon who gets those looks. I think he clearly has ability to grow for us as a player and I love they had the foresight to draft someone at a position that may need to be addressed sooner rather than later.
