god damnit.. I had a nice long post typed up.. this shit internet..

I don't want to spend 20m between Alex Mack and a top corner.. to me it doesnt make sense or take advantage of our deep draft position.. anyhow, on to my first rough draft!!!

rough draft v 1.0

round 1 -- TRADE UP... If Sammy Watkins falls below #5, I want us to give up our first and third this year, first and 4th next season. Obvious need and imo would bring the explosiveness to give Crabtree and Vernon more room to play. Also, gives us insurance if Crabbers wants top 5 WR money after next season.

round 2a -- Travis Swanson, C, Ark -- Obvious center need, strong pass blocker and several year starter in SEC. Good run blocker over his career.

round 2b -- TRADE UP -- I would love for us to move our first third round pick, LaMichael James and a 6th next year to get a total of 3 picks in the 2nd round. Kyle Fuller, CB from VT to me fits what we look for in size/speed characteristics. 3 1/2 year starter with solid tackling ability and good coaching.

round 2c -- Tre Jackson, G, FSU -- good young player with strong potential to replace Iupati if he walks in a year or two or has any more of these nagging injury concerns.

round 3(comp) -- Going back to VT to actually mine for a safety with dual ability. Antoine Exum, S, Vt good size, potentially an underranked player due to injury concerns.

round 4 -- Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley St. -- I think with Manningham, Boldin, and Kyle Williams exiting stage right, we need depth at this position. Big, good sized kid with strong production; of course, it is saginaw valley st, so I am sure he was playing against ppl like me.. (no offense to opponents of sag. vall st.

round 5 -- Aaron Colvin, CB, OK -- would have been much higher if not for a ripped up knee yesterday. put him on IR similar to what we did with Lattimore. gives potential depth if Cully doesn't return to whatever form he had before and if we do end up losing brock/brown/rogers/wright over the next two seasons.

round 6 and on -- BPA..

DISCUSS... j/k, I hate it when ppl say that. any thoughts/insights would be appreciated.

Correct, we can do 2 and 3 and maybe 5 with Cromo on the cheap if Gore drastically reduces his deal. I also don't see Boldin signing for less than what he got paid last season which was $6M.

Yeah and Dawson will get about the same as last year I do not remember what he was paid, I think it was between 1-2.5 million. Gore will have to make somewhere in the 2-3 million range for us to sign Cromartie.

I agree. I can't see either taking a cut from what they made last year. They both were exceptional.

Unless they are ok with team friendly deals to stay on a winning team.

I'm still mad. I've got more Kaeper-hate of which to dispense.

I'd root for Adolph Hitler if he were wearing red & gold, and I'll be right back here cheering 'em on next season; but I'm done with #7. I have zero faith in him. I'm back to where I was when Alex was QB unfortunately.

Seriously, dude. Seek fucking help.

It's just a game.

The 4th down TD by the Hawks actually bothers me the most.......I'm an average football mind at most and I told my wife before it happened they were trying to draw us off to 1) get a free play and 2) get closer for the kicker. And we jumped....honestly this bothers me the most.

Kam Chancelor's interception was what bothered me the most. Like c'mon Kap, you had your mind set all the way. At least use your eyes (look at the opposite direction) to guide the safety away from Boldin for a few seconds, then go back to Boldin and throw that laser. Those are the little nuances that he needs to work on. Tony Romo / Brees are masters in deception with their eyes which helps those respective QBs a whole lot.

The other play that bothered me was the one you are referring to. 4th down play. Like seriously, this is the freaking playoffs. You didn't expect that to happen?

Vic Fangio stoppled dialing up the all out blitzes in the second half. That irked me a whole lot.

Finally, the last play. Kap's INT. Patton was open in the flat.

49ers signed McBLT and Hampton.

Jewel Hampton - RB - 49ers

49ers signed RB Jewel Hampton and QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson to reserve/future contracts.

Hampton lost out to Anthony Dixon for the final roster spot in the Niners' backfield last summer, but the team reportedly really liked him. McBLT will compete to be Colin Kaepernick's backup.

It's called hyperbole. I was making a point. Adolph Hitler is dead.

Right on. Dixon is in all likelihood gone in free agency in March. So thats why Hampton is signed.

Dixon has actually grown on me a bit. Actually, I really like this team in general. Really wanted them to get a ring together......

Colin Kaepernick, Quinton Patton ready to begin workouts for 2014 - Niners Nation

Looks like Kaep is already back at it. Apparently Quintin Patton will be working with Kaepernick this Off Season. I'm really excited about that. All though I was stoked AJ Jenkins was working with Kaep last season and that didn't turn out too well either. I would personally like to see Kaep working with a QB coach and working on improving his pocket presence, accuracy, and mechanics.

Yes ---- maybe he could hire Mike Holmgren to tutor him, or go to Steve Young, or something like that.

He needs someone who's robotic / very mechanical, preferably a right hander. Brady Quinn, Elvis Grabac, Jim Hostetler, etc. The teacher doesn't have to be a legend per se. Mark Brunell though a lefty could probably be a good teacher as well.

I wonder how many looks Patton will get with Kap when the two are working out...

Kap will throw to himself more so than to Patton... I'll bet that! lol

Patton is going to wear a Crabree jersey during workouts to make sure he gets looks.
