Costs absolutely nothing to put a bid in, so it would be stupid not to do so.

What the rule should have been is it costs 10 million to be able to negotiate. No matter what you don't get your money back. That way it is beneficial for everyone. Japanese team will likely get more money then they would with the original posting system that we got darvish with, plus you wont have 30 teams putting 20 million in to negotiate.

True. Curious to see how much all in they'd be willing to go if they're competing with the Yankees, Dodgers etc. Also, I'm not sure if Darvish already here would make a positive or negative difference in Tanaka's mind.

I like the rule as it benefits the player more. I honestly don't give that much of a damn about the teams. If they want to make their players wait until they are truly FAs then so be it.

Jeff Wilson @JeffWilson_FWST Follow Scott Boras on contending clubs that say they can't take on a player's salary: "Budgets are a human design rather than a physical barrier."

What a blowhard this man is.

There's probably a middle ground and it probably is subjective based on individual thought process and philosophy.

I think that its unfair to keep them in japan if they truly want to expand their boundaries and view their potential. Even if Darvish came out and said I'd like to go to japan right now, although I'd be very pissed off, who are we to deny him going home? I know he has a contract with us, but their should be some type of clause or something that gets the team money back if the player decides to do something like that.

Here's a good example of my proposal. EVeryone knows what ebay is right? Well, now these websites that force you to pay 10 cents for each bid are becoming popular. The items are selling at like a 90 percent discount, but the seller ends up getting more money because of all the bids. A flat screen tv will sell forl like 10 bucks, but the seller makes a profit. Hope that made sense lol

Looks like mariners out on choo but still in on cruz
That Mariner GM is really trying to save his but by buying a good team. Now we may get into a bidding war for Cruz.
