Imagine if we could get cruz AND Choo. Lineup set. Then we trade for a pitcher? Hell, if we signed both of them, wouldn't that make Rios or Martin expendable? Oh the packages we could come up with are endless

Source tells me some very big plans could be in store. The stars would have to align for this, but the best case scenario is to sign choo AND cruz. Then trade moreland and prospects for a starting pitcher.

JD has indicated that is what he has been trying to do, which shows me that perhaps he thinks choo WILL sign here. I don't know where the money will come from, but we got it.

Yes DFW is a top 5 media market in the US, but that doesn't translate to instant revenue for the team.
According to the Bloomberg MLB team valuations, Texas is 9th in revenue, 11th in regional sports network, and 11th in gate receipts.

Top 5 attendance does not always mean top 5 revenue. Their payroll is EXACTLY where it should be based on the numbers.

That's about as intelligent of a response as you're going to get over there. But you do bring up a good point that there are multiple layers to determining a team's worth and commensurate payroll.

Well first of all, right now the roster limit is 40. It will be that way until the end of ST. We have 38 of those spots filled. So that whole entire statement is irrelevant.

I wish it were all the simple. I wish that simply playing close to Dallas meant that Texas could spend 200MM a year. That would be seriously badass. However it's not feasible or prudent and does not line up with reality.

Exactly. Then again this is a poster that is known for not having a damn clue in the first place. He is using some 110MM figure and I don't know where he got it from. Probably another poster there that he finds credible.

Plus, the FA market for next year is awful offensive wise. Waiting til next year doesnt appear to be a good option. Brett Gardner is the best outfielder. Maybe there actually is more steam to this then we think. There's no point in signing one next year. Might as well get it out of the way this year and not way til next year when brett freakin gardner will want over 20 million a year
