I really, really, really want the Rangers to sign Choo because he is what the Rangers have sorely lacked for some time, an absolute on-base machine with solid speed and 15-20 HR power. In other words, the ideal leadoff hitter to get on base for Fielder and Beltre. But I'm sorry, $22 Million a year for him is insane. I'm glad JD is smart enough not to give in to such a ridiculous demand. I hope no one else does either and he is forced to lower his asking price. I think the Rangers love him and he loves the Rangers, so the fit is a great one in those terms. We just the market to make Boras come to his senses.

There's one article where executives have said that when negotiating with Boras you're going to have to say No more than a few times. I think Boras is willing to wait it out, remember when people were saying he messed up Fielder's negotiations and then the Tigers swooped in and gave him that massive deal?

Sign one from each of these pairs and call it an offseason: Choo/Cruz, Morales/Morse. Ideally, I'd like it to be Choo and Cruz, but that isn't feasible. Imagine a lineup of:

Choo - LF
Andrus - SS
Fielder - 1B
Beltre - 3B
Rios - RF
Cruz - DH
Profar - 2B
Soto - C
Martin - CF

Moreland and Jamey Carroll as the bench IF, Choice as the 4th OF, and Arencibia backup at C.

Won't happen, but it's fun to think about.

They're running out of places to put Choo. Hart plays 1B. Morrison, Saunders, and Ackley are in the OF. Seager is at 3B, Miller at SS, and Cano at 2B. Doesn't leave a realistic spot for Choo unless they plan on putting Saunders or Morrison at DH.

Remember they also have Smoak who also plays 1B. They may try and swing a trade soon using some of those guys, but like you said at this point I don't know where Choo fits in.

Are we sure that Wash would even bat Choo leadoff?

I was told that the mariners didn't think they were getting choo. They got tired of waiting because they thought that the fact he was waiting meant he was leaning towards going against their offer. That's why they made these moves. Choo to seattle isn't imminent anymore guys

I'm sure he would, I think he prefers having Elvis in the 2 spot and maybe he feels Leonys isn't ready for to bat leadoff yet especially after last year, and I'm definitely sure he won't bat Profar leadoff either. Besides those three I don't know who else he could use in the leadoff spot.

So the Dodgers told Kemp's agent they weren't going to trade him.

Dodgers Tell Kemp's Agent They Have No Plans To Trade Him: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

In my opinion I think that they're still looking for a trade but have yet to get an offer they like.

Wouldn't buy into this. Coletti also said kemp wouldnt be ready for spring training. He might not trade him at the winter meetings, but I have a hard time believing he'll be a dodger come spring. There's no point. I think things will become clear when choo makes his mind up. They might not trade him now, but I bet when choo signs his mind changes

Any word if he's reduced his price just a bit? Or is Boras still holding out for a mystery team?

No, I don't know any numbers or years. I just know that our offer has always been significantly less then what he wants. I was also told its a year shorter

I just don't know if I trust Wash to do that. Would make sense, but he's been hell bent on other guys that were not perfect for the leadoff spot.

btw, choo's asking price is 22 million, which is what I thought the mariners offered. The numbers that have been thrown around from us are as low as 17 and as high as 20
