I am struggling with this. Isn't Choo wanting a 7 year contract? I know Choo is a different type of player than Cruz but Cruz has power and drives in runs and has a shotgun arm and above average speed and he is familiar with the Rangers and we are not wanting to go 3 years on him. Is Choo realistically a 7 year $20 mill a year player? I can be easily convinced but obviously a lot of other teams did not think so and went other routes.

His job is just to make the team better not only for the short run, but also maintain a strong future. That's why it's important to not get attached to players or avoid players you think your fans won't like, because in the end winning is what keeps the fans coming in.
