Well, the rumor is that kemp is thinking that he'll be dealt. He's gonna be at the meetings just in case. I was told that was for two reasons: 1) He would be able to speak to potential trade partners and then give the dodgers recommendations of where he'd like to go and 2) It would be easier to evaluate and work him out there at the facilities in orlando.

The Dodgers are trying to deal him and they already said they would eat some of the money to do it. I'm thinking its 60-40 he'll be traded.

Any idea what jds interest level in him is, and what he might offer up?

I couldnt tell you what he might offer, but JD has spoken to Ned Coletti multiple times in the past week. I would assume his offer would depend on the cash the dodgers take. JD is very interested though. In fact, I would go as far as to say that if matt kemp is traded, it would be too us. I can't speak for any of the other GM's actions, so I don't really know who else has talked to LAD, but I know we have multiple times and we have the pieces to do it without a doubt.

Damn, was buy and missed a lot of the talk.

If this were a normal deal then I wouldn't be so prone to worry about injury. I've not heard how much the Dodgers are willing to eat, nor have I heard what they want for Kemp.

I am pretty sure I know what it would take for other players on other teams, so I have way more a feel for the kind of deal it would be.

Kemp is way too much of an unknown unless LA puts it out there exactly how much they are willing to eat. Obviously those kind of details come out in one on one trade talks. I wouldn't take him unless they paid enough to make it 15MM AAV.

Guess that means they would have to eat 39-40 million as he is owed 129 million through 2019

I would settle for 30 million. Whatever got it under 100MM total.

I am adamantly against Kemp at the 128 or 129 million dollar price tag. Talking actual dollars get me interested.

Might be less than the money Choo will get, at probably 6 years 120+ million. However Choo is more likely to stay on the field. I just still am freaked out by the dude not being able to stay on the field. What happens if you go into ST and he re-injures the ankle a la Jeter and he misses most of next year(rhetorical) I know you're going with Choice in LF. I just can't wrap my head around there not being a better way to spend their money

Not that I want Choo at that price just used that as point of reference

If we got Kemp for around 95 mil for the remaining portion of his contract I think it would be worth it. To me he should be healthy. He came back healthy this year but was very unfortunate to hurt his ankle on his first game back. The ankle shouldn't be something that is lingering so if everything else checks out as healthy then he would be someone that would be a great asset for us.

He had better be healthy or the FO would be ridiculed forever, and many should lose their jobs. I have a feeling they would stake their reputation on a trade like that. Or at least they better be willing to do so.

You say that an ankle shouldn't be lingering, but I remember Kinsler having that built in excuse for a few years.

95 million while still a hell of a lot of money, is a much better deal than 128.

I think 20-30 million is an appropriate amount to expect them to pick up. That's not that bad guys.

Then we got him for 5 more seasons after that. He's only 29, its not like he's gona be old at the end of his contract. He'll still be productive
