Id want to see how he does off the juice.

Check his numbers. Unless he's been doing PEDs ever year than I don't see why there would be a big drop off.

He has a career .312 BA, .374 OBP, and AVG 36 HR's. Those are AVG in 162 games. His lowest WAR in a full season in 4.6 and has had over 7 twice.

I thought the rangers far exceeded last years international budget, so they are tapped out this year

Every team has a $2.9 million signing bonus pool for the 2012-13 signing period. Any team that spends more than $2.9 million will be subject to a variety of penalties:

• Teams that go 0-5 percent over will pay a 75 percent tax on the overage.
• Teams that go 5-10 percent over will pay the 75 percent tax on the overage and won't be able to sign more than one player for a bonus of more than $500,000 in the 2013-14 signing period.
• Teams that go 10-15 percent over will pay a 100 percent tax on the overage and won't be able to sign any player for a bonus of more than $500,000 in the 2013-14 signing period.
• Teams that go 15 percent or more over will pay a 100 percent tax on the overage and won't be able to sign any player for a bonus of more than $250,000 in the 2013-14 signing period.

they have to pay a tax on the overage and they're limited to a max of $250000 for any bonus but they still go into next year with their pool money

Would you guys rather have Choo for let's say 90M for 5 years, or Braun for 8yr/125? Braun for the next 5 years will be 79M. I think this is something that should really be considered.
2018 - 19M
2019 - 18M
2020 - 16M

It's actually a very favorable contract.

Question is, money aside what would it take to get him?

We might as well retire our minor league teams if we trade for braun

i will say though, there is nothing morally i feel AGAINST getting him. He's a freakin good baseball player in every aspect. The definition of a 5 tool player. Whatever is in the past is water under the bridge. We've lost kinsler, we need another good jewish player to step in his place. These are all legitimate reasons

I don't think anyone that argues that his past would keep JD from trading for him holds any water. We have been a team of second chances. Wash, Josh, and Cruz.

We would no longer be the Texas Rangers organization. We would be the Texas Rangers Empire
