Dark horse 'factor' for Japanese righty

I think someone, like the M's, are going to so over pay for Tanaka that JD will back off. Keep in mind, the M's gave Cano $65 mil for than what the Yanks offered, and the Yanks/Angels are absolutely desperate to improve their rotation.

I was reading the other day where some Seattle sportswriter was stating that Seattle would not be in on it because they could not afford to have two huge contracts like Cano and Tanaka blow up in their face and be paying huge salaries each year for dead space.

Cano maybe not now but a few years down the road and Tanaka it could blow up right out of the box.

I don't want garza, never have really liked him....I have a feeling that the success of darvish will raise the price of Tanaka but let's not forget that there really hasn't been a lot of Japanese pitchers to come over here and be successful. We were all worried about that history when we were going after darvish and I think the same worries should be around Tanaka and he will cost a lot more against the salary.

I was actually surprised to see us attached to Garza on that list. Of those three FA pitchers I prefer Ubaldo but Garza does not cost us a draft pick.

i like ubaldo as a pitcher, but I don't like him as a person. Heard he's a gigantic dick and a bad teammate. Plus he looks goofy as hell. I, personally, like ervin santana more than him, but thats just me

Actually, I recall him throwing at the heads of his former teammates for no reason, then throwing his glove down and challenging them to fight. I also remember him getting in an argument with his catcher in between innings of a game a few years back.
