I read that Darvish and Tanaka are workout partners.

"That adjustment period is why plenty of people believe the Rangers have a huge advantage. Since Tanaka and Darvish are workout partners, Tanaka could have an immediate comfort level in Texas. Still, the Yankees remain the consensus favorites to land him because he's so critical to their off-season."

just beat me to it haha
If we don't spend money on a DH then JD may make things interesting.Richard Justice: Masahiro Tanaka may yield big returns on investment | MLB.com: News

Also saw that we recently picked up an infielder by the name of Tanaka. Anyone know if he is related to the pitcher?
Uehara & Tateyama were the Japanese pitchers we had, I think Uehara and Darvish didn't get along
I'm sure I am in the minority here… but maybe not. If we got the funds, I prefer we go after a DH. I think we have plenty of depth at pitching. I agree that you can never have enough pitching though and who know how Harry will be this season. I just think we would probably benefit from having a good DH slightly more than adding another SP. That being said, last season and the way went for our starters really is the ultimate justification to go after a SP instead.
I'm with you. Not real interested in Tanaka for what he's likely to cost based on how he projects. On another note, interesting blog by Olney. LAA at 5 is generous... but I guess just going on offense I could see that. Still no pitching in Anaheim.I'm sure I am in the minority here… but maybe not. I too would like to see a DH. Also would like to see a SP b/c until Harry is on the mound and being Harry I don't think we can rely on what we have at the moment. That being said Harry may be fine and certainly hope so but really don't care if we get Tanaka unless the price is reasonable. However, do want another SP.I'm sure I am in the minority here… but maybe not. If we got the funds, I prefer we go after a DH. I think we have plenty of depth at pitching. someone hinted over the last few days about re-signing Baker and using him and Moreland as platoon DH's so if we did that then bring on Tanaka
Scottie I believe Baker was signed by the Giants. You may want to confirm that.someone hinted over the last few days about re-signing Baker and using him and Moreland as platoon DH's so if we did that then bring on Tanaka
If we can acquire baker again I'm on board with that.
