Probably someone that we pick up as a ST invite, i don't see it as a crucial role to fill, if we're worried about our long man in December then things are pretty good right now

Very good point.

And just goes to show everyone what a difference a few days can make in the make-up of the team and our attitude about it.

Looking at the available guys, there are TONS of guys still unsigned that could fill the #5 and long relief roles still available, not a lot would be ideal, but would do in a pinch

That just cracked me up. I just saw A Christmas Carol in downtown Dallas and that was Dickensesque.

Glad you enjoyed. And thank you.

Is this the one at the Children's Theater?

At the Wyly down at the AT&T Performing Arts Center and put on by DTC. We go every year as it has become a family tradition. Very good and anyone who can should go and see it some year. In the past it was at the Kalita Humphrey's theater.

Signing pitchers has taken a back seat this off season by teams. A lot of interesting names sitting out there.

When my boys were young we went every year and it was always an occasion we all truly enjoyed and looked forward too.

Good for you and yours.

Mainly b/c of the draft pick associated with said players. (santana, jimenez)

Didn't think we'd beat the Eagles anyway. Now I'm relatively sure of it.
Better move that Bears / Packers game to Sunday night. Would be much better game.

I'd only want Colby in the #5 spot if he was the best pitcher to be there, based on past experience the long relief guy will eventually get some spot starts or extended chances as well

Agree. Our hearts are with Colby ... if he can pitch even if only at 87mph but nails the low corners at will ... then he'd frustrate the heck out of batters if coupled with as breaking pitch. He'll play a role if not as an SP out of camp ... then along the way.

Got to have ten ML-ready SPs to get to October.

Probably lost 1 or more due to lack of run support. We all remember that nightmare especially YU. W/L records don't tell the whole story and sooner that is learned sooner some will grasp things a little quicker. Well maybe not. It' been discussed before. Good point you made.

i would say that Yu lost or didn't win at least 5 games because of minimal run support

Agreed. Heck, who ain't rooting for Lewis to at least come back and contribute?

But looking for 10 ML ready pitchers, although an admirable goal, is a lot.

Next year Darvish, Perez, Holland, Lewis, Harrison, Tepesch, Ogando, Kirkman, and maybe Ross is what will be given a shot in ST I think. That's 9 and whoever else we invite. We know the obvious one's here, just giving a run down of the others on the roster.

He lost 4 for sure 1 - zip. The more I think about this, the more amazing that is.

You might say the same for Tep. How many for sure I don't really know. His stats show he was a little better than Holland and Harry in their 1st year. Credit JTA for those numbers. He may just win the #5 spot.

Runs scored in Tep's starts:

6, 3 (L), 5, 2, 2 (L), 2 (L), 12, 1 (L), 3, 1, 1 (L), 2 (L), 8, 2, 4, 10, & 4

Right at 4 a game, 10 total runs scored in his 6 losses

Yes he had some bad games, but he was a rookie making the jump from AA, I'd be inclined to cut him some slack, his biggest problem was finding a way to avoid the big inning

Same thing with Grimm and every other rookie pitcher from here until forever.
