Any arthritis issues?? I'm having some problems with that too!

HA! I'm giving everybody the impression that I'm a crippled geriatric!!! I really get around fine...
Not with knees but shoulders are different. Really think Derek will have a good recovery

I had microfracture surgery on my knee last July - very generally the idea is that it creates a "scab" to cover over missing or damaged cartilage. Now I have a 50+ year old knee, but I still do not have the mobility, flexibility and strength that I had previously. I was a distance runner by hobby, and this has effectively ended my running career. Derek's knee his half the age of mine and he will get world class treatment and therapy. But this is slow healer, 6 months before he can be back to full strength is my guess....

I think one of your Dallas Cowboy's had this surgery done a few months back as well...
Operation for bone spurs in my ankle ended my long distant running hobby.

Wow. I just watched this video. I know I bring up hockey alot, but this gives you a really interesting glimpse at the front office when they are making moves. The struggles it is talking to agents, and the rumors agents spread on twitter, and salary cap issues, and tough decisions on young players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0O117jowgw

I'm sure this is what my friend has to go through as a scout too. Skip ahead to around 5:30-6 and keep watching. Very very interesting. Even if you aren't a hockey fan its worth a watch, because I'm sure the situation is similar in all sports (besides the salary cap part)

Going to try to catch up on the thread today, but I know there were talks with Jerome Williams. Wonder if there are any other talks with other teams about another starter now that Holland is gone for a major chunk of the season (and IMO all of it).

I don't think Tanaka is still a solution due to the costs, but with people focused on him perhaps there is someone out there that could come in as more insurance. Not a major name like Price, but a person to fill depth or who could step in if Ogando/Schep/whomever don't make it or fill their BP spot if they do.

It may not be as bad as we think based upon this article out on ESPN Dallas

But not all microfracture surgeries are the same. For instance, Scott Feldman had microfracture surgery on his knee right after the 2010 season ended and didn't return to the majors for eight months, though he did have a host of rehab starts prior to his big league return after the All-Star break in 2011.
Feldman's lengthy recovery time, though, was in part because he had cartilage repair done around the femur, a weight-bearing bone. Holland's procedure was in the kneecap, so it might not require quite as long a rehab time. That will depend on how well Holland heals and how his rehab goes.
The 27-year-old Holland said this weekend that he believes he could return sooner than projected, but knows the club won't rush things.

I'm hoping someone steps up and fill the void so he isn't rushed back. I'll be thrilled if he comes back early, but not expecting much from him this year no matter what.

Just as an FYI, and it means nothing...but we are now less than 2,000 posts from being the most active MLB board on the Hoop (judged by number of posts). We are also around 800 posts from hitting 100k posts.

Not bad considering we weren't really that active until about 18 months ago. :suds:

Ford -- pretty far from the beginning when there were just about a dozen of us who left the old ESPN about three and a half years ago right? The last exodus from ESPN last fall and BBTIA going down all of 2013 makes this one of the few spots for TEX fans.

Funny how quite a few of us have been posting with one another for quite a long time.

Thanks to you and management for keeping this light on.

Kershaw got extended.

7yrs/215 million. With an out clause after 5yrs. (could be a free agent at 30).

Wow.

I really hope no one really thought Kershaw might come to Texas.

I know I sure didn't. Man, $30 mill a year. Good for him. I know he is very good but you have to hope he stays healthy.
