There are a lot of cases that I'm not sure about, but I'm fairly certain we'll send him our offer and be on our way. The Dodgers or the Cubbies will probably end up with him. If we couldn't outbid the dodgers on greinke, who we were much more interested in than tanaka, then I doubt we'll sign him.

was it a matter of outbidding them or was it more that greinke wanted to pitch in the NL?

I read that Darvish and Tanaka are workout partners, which made me think he might sign with TX.

I've never read anything about them disliking each other, and I've read plenty saying what you've just said

I think its more of an issue that the Rangers don't think that highly of Tanaka, in the sense that the cost will be greater than the value

I think Sullivan reported that Derek had surgery this morning

Glad we didn't waste any prospects on that, sign Morales and trade a package with Moreland and Sardinas plus some other prospects and get a pitcher

It wasn't on ESPN or the Rangers site that I saw

"Acquire Starting Pitcher" just got moved from JD's Optional List to the Mandatory List.

I don't think even the most optimistic Rangers fan could feel comfortable entering the season with fresh-off-major surgery-Matt Harrison as the team's #2 and a bunch of question marks for the 4 and 5 spots.

Garza is the only FA pitcher I would look at, no pick comp just money

Ubaldo sucks, I don't care what he did in the 2nd half that guy is a mechanical tweek away from being terrible again

Arroyo might be interesting though, also no pick comp

I could see Gallardo, as his 2015 season is only a 600k buyout, bc there's no way we pay him 13M based on his performance over the last couple years
