Since he hit a star and people are giving Shanny shit already this year, I say the full five.

He's a good energy guy. Even when the team was at their worst he was the one guy you could count on to give 100% every time he hit the ice.

He's good at drawing penalties too in the annoying Matthew Barnaby kind of way.

Unfortunately he has a lot of brain farts that end up in situations like this.

League fears they gave up way too much in the CBA with regards to the appeals process and doesnt want to go there (ie doesnt want it on public display)

For that 5. Anything else just wouldn't be right.

In all honesty, I think Kaleta is more a victim of bad timing than anything else (along with Harry Z.) - I think Shanny was feeling the heat that length of suspensions weren't long enough and it's easy to punish guys like Harry Z. and Kaleta.

/That said, I think Kaleta deserved a suspension for the hit, but 5 games seems a bit excessive for this particular hit (maybe the repeat offender weighed heavily in the decision).

Also if Kaleta got five for that, the Ranger that plastered Gerbe into the boards later in the same game should have gotten at least three.

They were saying that the hits looked identical. Maybe Gerbe should have stayed down longer. He was down for a bit but apparently not long enough.

True, Im just confused, I figured Kaleta would get something but when the second hit took place J.R. said oh big hit and Gerbe is down, Rob Ray said "yes he is Rick that looked just like the hit Kaleta made", He wasn't bitching but just making a comparison.

What sucks is Kaleta has been playing real well too. I mentioned in a GNT a couple games ago that I don't know if there's a forward in the league that will sacrifice his body blocking shots on the PK like PK. Ha Ha same letters.

I'm wondering if this is a suspension to really tone down his game and not just about the hit. The hit may have been worth 2-3, maybe the extra 2 was for his overall body of work of late. Basically the league saying the hit was bad and you're a dick. Cut the shit.
