The bite is pretty stupid but the worst thing last night IMO was Orr's run at Plekanec. It wont be looked at because he missed but it looked like an attempt to injure him when the game was already over. Plus it led to a lot more foolishness.

I agree. If he connects it's one nasty collision that's for sure.

2 games with credit for time served (I believe he got a double minor on that) plus restitution

And give him 10 hours community service to set an example

Giordano is playing tonight, but the league wants to review a slew-foot on Roussel of the Stars in yesterday's game. I guess a fine at most will be forthcoming.

Is it my imagination or does it seem like the number of incidents are down this year? I wonder if it has anything to do with the shorter season and the players watching there bank accounts more. The incidents don't seem as severe either most of them are iffy last year a lot of them were no brainers

Last year it seemed like we had at least one a night and would tune into the hour long Shanny show for an explanation.

Perhaps after a year of the league showing that, while they weren't necessarily going to be consistent about it, the league was willing to take significant action against guys who crossed the line, it finally started to sink in for the players that they couldn't do that stuff anymore.

fights are significantly up, if you'd care to make a cause/effect connection

NEW YORK (February 19, 2013) – Minnesota Wild forward Devin Setoguchi has been fined $8,108.11, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for high-sticking Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quince yin NHL Game No. 216 in Minnesota on Sunday, February 17, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 15:16 of the second period. Setoguchi was assessed a double-minor penalty for high-sticking.

As a first-time offender, the maximum Setoguchi could be fined was the lesser of $10,000 or one-half of his daily salary

I don't think it was malicious, just a reactionary thing. I think a fine is fair.

Not that I want anyone to get hurt, but....

Where has Jarkko Ruutu been?

I probably misspelled his name. Whatever. I do what I want.

What's the trend if you take out the momentum killing slug fests that Dorsett starts?

Down. I would bet down.
