Someone will ... probably LAD ... it's a budget so you know what worst case might be. Personally ... I think Greinke wants back in the AL as soon as he can.

I definitely see the Rangers being a player, b/c the rotation is definitely looking very thin after this year

Possible rotation candidates going into next season w/o Greinke:

Darvish, Holland, Harrison, Kirkman, Ogando, Ross, Grimm, Perez, Ramirez, & maybe Lewis as a buy low FA

Other "top" FAs: Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse, Francisco Liriano, Shaun Marcum and MAYBE the Angels don't exercise the options on Haren and/or Santana; none of those really adds much in the way that we need it

I wonder how much were willing to spend next offseason

I'm willing to bet the payroll only goes up slightly if at all

The Rangers have about 51 million dollars of expiring contracts, depending on how much of Demsters contract we are actually paying for the rest of the year, i said about 5 of 14 million (46.65 of definite expirations)

But we have about 20-25 million of that already chewed up in salary upticks from extensions and salary hikes due to arbitration

It still work out the same as Soto will still be on the team next year and wouldn't be an expiring contract

Hard to see their payroll not increasing next season.

I say up 5-10 million, but not much more than that

They make a choice between Greinke and Hamilton

Or split the difference and go off the wall and get a Bourn and/or a Sanchez type

Outside of Hamilton and Greinke this FA class is a steaming pile of dung

Yeah, which is why I believe josh probably won't be a ranger next year. I'm not interested in any mid-high level guys. We're not lacking in those. We're going to need an elite player or two.

My prediction; Greinke and CarGo trade, Josh & Napoli Walk

I think Texas will make a push to get him, but I'm not sure he wants to come to Texas. I'm thinking he wants to get back to the NL. Also, you know the Angels will push hard for him and we all know how stupid they've been about spending money. I just think they'll miss out on Geeinke because they'll refuse to give him stupid money. I could see a CarGo trade happening though.

Always hard to predict whats going to happen. But I don't see Greinke in Texas next year at all. He is a Head Case. Mental Issues. Too much Money.

I only say something gets done b/c the Starting staff looks REALLY weak going into next year

Greinke, outside a trade I can't even percieve, is the only thing that makes sense

All said and done, maybe the Rangers pass on Greinke, let Hamilton and Napoli walk, swallow their pride, hold onto their prospects, rebuild, and focus on the young guys for a season (Perez, Grimm, Olt, Profar, Martin, Buckel, etc...)

I think in this scenario, they compete and maybe even claim a wildcard, but are in no way prepped for anything close to a serious playoff run, CarGo or not

The Rangers could try to resign Dempster. Perez I feel will be in the Rotation next year. Will Colby Lewis be back? If Hamilton walks the Rangers need to go hard after Cargo. So many ways the Rangers can go. One thing foe sure next Year the Rangers are going to be a different team in many ways.

Honestly I think Colby re-signs with the Rangers, he gives them some grit, and won't be very coveted coming off his injury, Rangers could probably get him on the short & the cheap (2yr 5m per, 3rd yr option for 7.5m, 1m buyout)
