Best Adapted Screenplay : John Ridley (12 Yrs a Slave)

Best Original Screenplay : Spike Jonze (Her)

Ridley didn't acknowledge the movie's director Steve McQueen when he walked past him or in his speech. I thought that was awkward. They panned to McQueen and he was clapping very slowly, stoned-faced. I wonder if that's about anything. Good for Jonze. I really want to see that one. It's a fascinating premise.

Best Film- 12 Years A Slave
Best Actor- Leonardo Dicaprio (He's due)
Best Actress- Cate Blanchett (Only nominated flick I've seen. She was terrific)
Best Supporting Actor- Jared Leto
Best Supporting Actress- Jennifer Lawrence
Best Director- Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón)

4 of 6. Not bad. I was torn between McConaughey & Leo and had no clue about supporting actress.

Surprised that Matthew McConaughey won best actor. I have to assume it was because he nearly starved himself to death to play that role.

I didn't catch any of this, since I'm not a big movie goer. Any surprises? I was miffed that Blackfish didn't make the documentary cut, so any enthusiasm for this ceremony was tempered by that.

'Gravity' has already blown out 'Apollo 13' for wins, I may have to watch it.

In light of this, I may have to as well. A local cinema drafthouse has played Oscar-winning movies in the recent past.. I wonder if they'll air this. I'll have to look into it.

Don't bother

Gravity is basically Cast Away in space

To think that it is being compared to Apollo 13 is a travesty. I didn't hate Gravity. It was mildly entertaining but not even close to Apollo 13 and certainly not Best Picture material.
