I can live with that. And that is why he was a horrible "ace" for the so-called "best team in baseball". That was where the Wainwright loss stung the most.

And, I feel like you were harassing me over calling the Cards doomed by reminding me that they won 100 games, but I don't feel like looking it up. I'm just glad the Cards are out.
I think your perception of the Cardinals is all wrong. Their whole team was an Ace when they were going. They had a team ERA that rivaled Matt Harvey until Lynn broke down like he always does, Wacha broke down and Martinez got shut down.

Lackey wasn't their problem. Lackey was their only chance. His ERA was sub 2.0 at home.

Lester is way better than Lackey. You are embarrassing yourself if you think otherwise.

And seriously, you've made it abundantly clear that you have absolutely no qualifications in regards to knowing when someone is embarrassing themselves.

Please stop it, Clayton. We've jumped down the rabbit hole into Chappee's world. Facts have no place here. Unless of course you're talking about Chappee's favorite metric, "fear factor," but he's the only one that knows how That's calculated.

Not it 2015 he wasn't.

I'm pretty sure that's the year we're in, am I right?
13-10
2.77 ERA
1.211 WHIP
218 IP
177 K's
211 hits

vs

11-12
3.44 ERA
1.122 WHIP
205 IP
207 K's
183 hits

id take lesters numbers purely as a pitcher

and remember, lester had a brutal start

Jon Lester has been a better pitcher than Lackey for his entire career! Since 2008 when Lester got a full-time gig he has been better than Lackey EVERY SINGLE YEAR other than 2015. He's had 2 seasons better than Lackey's best season. You are backing the wrong horse here.

How about in every year OTHER than 2015? Or do you just count the 1 season that helps your argument? :L

The argument, Chappee, from the beginning has been about the 2015 postseason. If you're unaware, the 2015 postseason is occurring in 2015.

Talk about a fucking face palm. Jesus Christ, man. Sometimes you seem like you might be a fully-functioning member of society, but then you go off the fucking rails like this. Do you have an ether habit?

I gave you the facts:

Lester was better than Lackey in: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014
Lackey was better than Lester in: 2015

Your conclusion: Lackey is better. It's hilarious to people that actually follow the game.

Lester had a higher ERA with less innings, but I guess Chappee is right, Lester was "way" better.

13 IP and .7 runs per difference

and lester fanned more than a guy per IP, had a lower WHIP...and, is lefty...which id take.

Find a single post of mine that says Lackey was better than Lester in any season other than 2015.

Did this shit really work on CBS? You'd have shut your computer off an hour and a half ago and cried yourself to sleep had you ever brought this weak shit to FN.

It seems to me that you're implying that .7 of ERA is a small difference. Is that what you're doing?

Ok. I'm glad the Cardinals had the guy from 2015. He would've knocked out the Cubs in a single elimination playoffs. No one is pointing fingers at him.

76 ER for lester (16 HR)
67 ER for lackey (21 HR)

so, its a difference of 9 total ER over 30+ starts, and lester gave up far fewer HR's in only 13 fewer IP

Didn't Gallardo start game 1 for Texas? I didn't see him listed anywhere.

Clayton, this discussion has taken place across multiple threads since last Friday when I took exception to Chappee saying that the Cards were fucked because they were starting Lackey in game one.

He has tried desperately to change the debate. He's invented me saying that I'd take Lackey over Kershaw in a Game 1. Now he's decided that I've said Lackey has been a better pitcher than Lester over their careers.

It's really baffling. I can't tell if this is his twisted debate style, or if he's really just this stupid.

Wasn't the original argument that Lackey was the worst game 1 starter in the playoffs? (the game he dominated btw).
