Congrats to the Stros for getting that far with one pitcher

Its the only reason I wanted to avoid that team in a one game playoff

They almost had the series in 4. I'm still trying to figure out how they blew a 4 run lead in the 8th inning of that game.

I can live with that. And that is why he was a horrible "ace" for the so-called "best team in baseball".

So you can live with him being ranked the 8th best pitcher in 2015, but that also makes him a "horrible" ace?

I was harassing you that you said they were doomed because they had Lackey going in game 1. He was an awesome fucking pitcher this year, and he was awesome in game 1.

Full disclosure, calling any team "doomed," or "a lock" in the playoffs is something I'd never do. Far too much crapshootidity in these short series, and for the record, in the context of a 162-game season, I even consider a 7-game series to be short.

I fucking love the playoffs, but all they do is provide drama and identify the playoff team that can get hot and win eleven (or twelve) games the fastest.

That was crazy. Seemed to me like after that big Astros lead, everyone except the Royals was too busy thinking about the champagne party after the game. Whoops.

I usually wouldn't refer to a team as "doomed", but I thought the Cards would be vulnerable in a short series.

FYI, I would rank those guys like this:

1. Kershaw
2. Price
3. Greinke
4. DeGrom
5. Harvey
6. Arrieta
7. Kuechel
8. Hamels
9. Cole
10. Lester

McHugh did last year what Lackey did this year. Check the stats for yourself. He's also 28 and has some upside for the future. And, again, that list was merely a group of nominees from playoff teams. How do you rank them? I'd love to see.

Bottom line: Lackey was the worst #1 starter among all playoff teams & the Cards were a pretender this year.

What does upside for the future have to do with THESE playoffs. Dude, Mchugh had a 3.9 era and the fact he's 28 already actually shows less upside lol. Lackey came in with a 3.08 career post season era. So he had experience and was great wth it.

David Price finally won his first playoff game on a technicality. And Lackey is the one you find a bad #1 starter?

Absolutely nothing will back you up on it. Nothing.

Bottom line John Lackey > Colin Mchugh.

I think you are probably right about that one. But you said you would rank Lackey around 5th on that list? Where do you insert him? This is how I ranked them above:

1. Kershaw
2. Price
3. Greinke
4. DeGrom
5. Harvey
6. Arrieta
7. Kuechel
8. Hamels
9. Cole
10. Lester

I imagine that Lester would have be thrilled with this considering he had a worse season than Lackey and lost Game 1 to him too.

Which guy would you rather have heading into the playoffs and why? Here are their 2015 ERAs and Sept 2015 ERAs:

Player A - 2015 1.77 - Sept 0.39
Player B - 2015 2.54 - Sept 3.86

Lester is way better than Lackey. You are embarrassing yourself if you think otherwise.
