Sorry but didn't Baylor end up 5th. Houston Nice one.
Yeah I know you base the game on resume instead of playing the games. So teams should just walk on the field hand the officials their "resumes" and let them decide who wins the games......... I'll break it down this way.Our 5 star QB was a bust.He looked great on paper. But th other one was far better on the field. You can dress anything up it does;'t make them "better". Had OSU beaten PSU on the field or won their division. Then it would be a different story. But PSU is the better team as per fact. Tbh I think OSU has the same result our "better" QB had against Bama should they back inYou obviously continue to not listen to the committee lol
Go ahead and ignore the facts it isn't helping your case
I never once complained. I have been saying to you how the committee will view based on how they have viewed previous situations and I was right, you were wrong. Accept it dude. It doesn't matter to me either way, it just doesn't look good on you.
This is a very well written post. And exactly why play off expansion makes sense. There is definitely a flaw in the current system. With the sample size of talented teams in the country 4 is just not enough imo. I also think you have the number right at 6 teams with a bye to the top two. I may even go as far as to say the 5 P% champions and an at large. Make all these games count
- 2014 TCU (12-1) Annihilated No. 9 Ole Miss 42-3 in the Peach Bowl. They pretty much kicked ass on everyone they faced, including ranked opponents with a few exceptions, their only loss was to No. 5 Baylor in a Big12 shoot-out, on the road, by 3 points on a game ending FG and they didn't play in a CCG. (That resume, kind of sounds familiar )
Both of those teams would likely get in the playoffs in an expanded playoff format. I mean they both only lost 1 game, on the road, in their respective years by a mere 3 points.
- 2015 Houston (13-1) Soundly beat No. 9 FSU in the Peach Bowl. They too pretty much kicked ass on everyone they faced that year, including ranked opponents, with a few exceptions, and their only loss was by 3 points on the road as well. In that one loss, they started their backup QB who was injured in the fourth quarter and had to come out for the rest of the game. Still, it took a fluke tipped ball on trick play to beat them by the three points.
I can see why Buckeye fans wouldn't want them in, and would mock the possibility of them having a chance at an NT. It's fear. Because everyone saw what these two did in their Bowl games in their respective years.
Simply put, if you win every game save one by a 3 point margin on the road, soundly beating top ranked teams along the way, and can't get a chance in the current format (Unless you're tOSU), then there are issues with the current format or we should just realign the FBS Schools. There is an inherent flaw in the process, I mean look no further than Western Michigan. Perfection, as an FBS School, and they have no chance at proving it Nationally on the field.
You are kidding yourself if you really think there are zero problems with the 4 team playoff format, and that everyone agrees with you on this. Maybe you are just blind because the Buckeye's have seemingly finagled their way into the top four once again, but if they were the ones looking in from the outside, maybe you wouldn't have zero problems, and just maybe you would agree that the 4 team format isn't working as well as you are stating here and now.
Thank you TRD, and I guess by the complete silence on this thread, to this point, you are right! This is a very well written post.

I hate the poll system the AP is bad. But you're right the coaches poll is the worst. The bias was really evident in that rematch bowl. With Saban voting Stanford ahead of Okie State .Stanford was not even close to being a better teak than okie state that year At the least the system needs work. These polls impact everything
Yeah that was true you can get the breakdown of how the coaches voted. The coaches poll is by far the worst. There will always be bias in polls. But the coaches poll allows coaches to play a direct bearing on their teams ranks. As well as other teams. It got to go imoAs polls go, I always thought the AP was better. That was because I don't trust the coaches to always be objective when they should be. I've heard about Saban putting OSU at 4 to help them get a rematch with LSU, but I have no idea if that was true or not. In our lives, it's like being allowed to rank yourself against your peers to determine your compensation. It just doesn't make a ton of sense.

I agree eventually it is going come down to play off expansion imo. I can see a 6-8 team format in the near futureAgreed. I like the idea of a committee of people to make the determination, but it has to be done right. I just wish we had more insight into the actual conversations. That being said, there may or may not be a few fan bases out there that would send the usual death threats if their team was left out, so maybe not.

Geez Shane, pay attention!Y'all were right all along. Penn St is in !!!! Congrats on being right
I'd like to see them go to 6, give 1 & 2 a bye, and then play 3 vs 6 & 4 vs 5, this only adds one extra game for just two of the playoff teams.
This year, the CCG chalk would be ...
1 Alabama (Bye)
2. Clemson (Bye)
3. Ohio State vs 6. Penn State
4. Washington vs 5. Michigan
Then...
1. Alabama vs 5. Michigan or 6. Penn State
2. Clemson vs 3. Ohio State or 4. Washington
BTW- If you can't win your Division, you can't get a bye!
Geez Shane, pay attention!
We were talking about expansion.
I never said Penn State would get in & I never said the Ohio State wouldn't.
Play off expansion makes a lot of sense. Not just for the fans but the players. These teams all work far too hard. To have their seasons determined by judgement calls and meetings. 4 Teams does not appear to be enough to determine that. The talking heads at espn have even thrown USC in discussions because of a lack of being able to decipher the meaning of best team. By adding 6-8 teams and providing a rconcrete selection system. The would be providing clarity. And arrive at the goal one true champion. Which as fans we should all want. And the kids who go out every weekend and put it all on the field deserve that.Geez Shane, pay attention!

Just like your argument for OSU to back in I see no facts. That say there should not be a play off and concrete system in determining the Best team .When the Best team won the division and by your standardss wouldnt get the spot they earned. But lets listen to Herbstreit and go the scenario village route. Seems legitFirst it was 2, now it is 4. Some want 6 or 8 and it will only continue and college football will become a fucking joke. If it has to expand eventually, 6 is the limit but that will be a long time from now because 4 is fine and most experts will agree. I mean we had 2 teams make it since the BCS was created...geez.
