If the refs let all defenses play like that against Carolina, Cam might not make it though the season. He took what? A good 4 helmet leading shots to the dome with only one being called.

I don't disagree but if the NFL is very serious about these new concussion rules then I would say the Panthers should at least get a warning that next time it will cost them. He did not look good at all and so to leave him in like that without a team doctor getting the chance to really check him out is just crazy.

That 4th and 1 call was about as gutsy of a call as you will see especially going against such an incredible front-7 but man I love the push I saw in this OL. Last year that play is a 2-yard loss and the Broncos lose the game. This OL if they can stay healthy could be the biggest reason why this team continues to be a top team in the league.

I don't know if they were going for head shots or what, I tend to think not. I think they were just trying to smack the shit out of Cam because I think they think he is bitch made. But they sure did get a bunch that should have been flagged.

All in all I think that was a very well played opener and both teams are going to be good this season. I am kicking myself for not drafting more Denver players in fantasy, especially CJ. I should have known Kubiak would turn that offense into Texans Rocky Mountains Edition and run the shit out of the ball.

They have an official on the sidelines to buzz the ref to get a guy off the field to enter concussion protocol.

If they want to be serious about concussion rules, they have to be serious about shots to the head of the QB. If the MVP can't get those calls, lower tier guys are going to get killed.

The NFL needs to find a middle ground for the concussion protocol, especially in a situation like last night where it was an illegal hit that forced the situation in a last second drive. Either the defender should be forced from the field as well, and/or the game be halted temporarily to allow the protocol to take place. You can't reward the defense for an illegal hit to get the star QB out of the game in crunch time.

I've read all the articles this morning, some blaming the league, some blaming the Officials, and some blaming the Panthers for not removing Cam and giving him the Protocol immediately after several of those hits.

But honestly, NONE of those three entities were about to take the reigning MVP out of a closely-contested game -- the ONLY game on. Even if they all three agreed that he needed to be pulled, nobody had the guts to do it.

The League can fine the Panthers or whatever for not taking him out of the game, but they will continue looking like the biggest hypocrites on the planet in regards to the issue of head injuries.

It's a violent game. I don't fault Denver at all for the way they played, because if the refs aren't going to call it early in the game, you keep doing it. Play to win.
