Barring any draft position moves and if the Broncos use their 12th pick in upcoming draft for a QB, it's most likely the choice will be between Penix, Nix and McCarthy. Given those choices, who would be your preference and why?

I know that there is some sentiment out there that our choices in the 2025 draft may be better than this year. That would arguably have the Broncos picking BPA at #12. Hard to predict next year and the Broncos placement in the draft order.

Due to our salary cap issues, I'm an advocate on getting a rookie QB this year through the draft. Need a player that's affordable in order to handle our business elsewhere with the team.

I think Bo Nix is probably the most pro ready but I feel like Penix or McCarthy have higher ceilings. The whole thing is a massive crap shoot.

I voted McCarthy, with some hesitation. With the running game Michigan had, it was always difficult to get a good grasp on how good he really was. But hard to hold that against him.

Nix would be my second choice with Penix a distant third.

Nix is about to be 24, he better be pro ready he can’t wait much longer.

Why is 24 such a problem for a QB? With the new NIL stuff start getting use to QB's being 24 coming out. 24 doesn't bother me with a rookie QB. I see advantages to being 24... If the guys gets above 25 coming out then I will be a bit more concerned. A good QB is a good QB.

Get the QB this year and let 2024 be a developmental year for him. The defense also needs a ton of work so chalk up 2024 and get our rookie some much needed reps. A 9-8 finish and wild card would be a bonus.

I think it goes back to the notion that QB’s start declining in their early 30‘s(obviously, there are some exceptions to the rule) and so if you’re gonna draft a guy in the first round you don’t want him to hit 30 before his contract comes due and he starts declining 2 years into the mega contract you gave him.

QB's shelf life is long. The decline is much later then any other position outside K, P and LS.

Agree. Years ago that wasn't the case, but more and more QBs seem to be putting up solid production into their mid-30s. The fact that making mean faces at a QB before the snap might lead to a 15 year penalty might have something to do with that.

Generally speaking, if a player has generational talent you want them as long as possible. That said, you're lucky to get a second contract in the NFL anyway, and outside a qb drafting a guy at 24 and keeping them to 29 means you likely got their best years for cheap.

I forgot where I was going with this...

Oh yeah.

McCarthy all the way. And if anyone of the three is more pro-style ready, its him. Nix ran a ton of shotgun, zero back sets, and pistol. Though the NFL is going to more RPO.

Given their situation financially, the Broncos don't need a stop gap. They need to take a shot at a QB in the draft on a rookie contract.
Y'all may need to do that in the '25 draft. You finished 8-9. Not in prime spot to take one of the top 3.
