The only person I feel sorry for here is Iggy Azalea. I mean to find out your fiancee cheated on you by hearing him admit it in an audio tape is pretty screwed up.
As long as Russell feels bad about this stuff ... apologizes ... and says it won't happen again ... I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for a while. (at least) He is very young ... and somehow screwed up ... at least he took responsibility for it. (and didn't say something stupid like "someone hacked my phone")
In long run, it could make him a better guy. He could share the ball more on the court and be a leader. It will take a while ("years"). It will really depend on what happens in the locker room. We don't know directly what happens in most cases ... but indirectly, we'll know.
I really don't think he is bad guy.
?????They booed him at introductions (which I expected). After that, they were cheering him and went nucking futs when he hit the first 3 in OT.

LOS ANGELES -- When D'Angelo Russell was introduced in the starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard was met by heavy boos from a Staples Center crowd that, until then, had cheered him all season long.
When the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft touched the ball for the first time on offense, fans continued to boo. When the former Ohio State standout launched his first shot, a 3-point attempt from the right wing, fans continued to boo. And when Russell stood at the free throw line to complete a three-point play after scoring his first basket, fans continued to boo.
Indeed, it was evident from the outset of the game that he would receive no sympathy from the Lakers' faithful in attendance a day after ESPN reported that a rift had developed between Russell and his teammates when a video that Russell secretly recorded of Nick Young surfaced on social media.
Some fans shouted "Snitch!" and "Traitor!" -- calls that were crystal clear for all to hear.
There were still boos for Russell later in the game, though not as strong as in the beginning. He finished with 16 points, including five in overtime, on 5-of-17 shooting in the 102-100 victory.
Again ... if this was Kyrie Irving & Lebron James ... would you say "... they should make them pay the price in the locker room, which is where is belongs" ?
I don't think so. I think it would be a thread which would generate 5000 posts.
Agree 100%. He seems to honestly feel bad about it and he says he's going to so whatever he has to do to fix it. He also said he knows there isn't a quick fix. So, at least he's saying all of the right things. So, as a fan, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
But, I'll also be looking at him with @Mecca siiiiiiiide eye for awhile too.
Yep. Nick Young shouldn't have been cheating and Russell shouldn't have been a dumbass.

He only had 1 assist last night.
If it were me, I think I would have only shot it a couple of times -- and passed every other time trying to make sure other guys thought I was generous and a good guy.
Even during pickup basketball, I think I know a guy's personality based on how he (or she) plays. It is easy to tell.
Totally agree.
This could be the catalyst for him get his shit together and grow up.
Of course we'd poke fun at Cleveland. But if we were to discuss this seriously we'd probably say the same thing because we've seen players go through much worse and be fine.

Fair enough. that's a reasonable argument.i mean- the teammates and nick young- yah he deserves whatever he gets--- but the kid is a basketball player- why do we care what he does with his teammates? i sure dont...
i took an interest in this story when i read the stuff saying how the guy was getting frozen out- he went to sit next to lou williams in the locker room and lou immediately got up and left- no one would talk to him etc....i thought it was an interesting look into the mentality of the locker room which we just dont get to see very often- guys never talk about it- reporters would never talk about it because no one would ever speak to them again-- this idiot does it- and we get to see the reaction of his teammates and its pretty fascinating.
if the story i saw on yahoo was- about nick young and his girlfriend cheating or like matt barnes and fisher or whatever- im not even clicking on it and reading it- i really dont care....just like lebron with his tweets and his attention grabs-- i just really dont care- i care what he does on the court--- i just dont really care what he does off.
but really ? some slob in the crowd is gonna BOOO deangelo russell for that? gmafb...they need to get a life
And I'm tired of it. At 19 he is a grown man who should no better than to pull a juvenile middle school age stunt like that. Nick Young is an ignorant punk but Russell is looking like a 12 year old.Yes, because the world is full of 19 year olds who are completely mature, have years of wisdom and experience to draw from and never do anything stupid or immature.

Ha ha! I have to agree with you there.Oh, I agree that it was stupid and juvenile. But trust me, it's what these dumbasses do. My son is 19 and literally a genius (pretty sure it's from his Mom) and most of his friends are about as smart as he is. Yet, I find myself doing the at them on a fairly regular basis.
Turning 18 and becoming a legal adult doesn't suddenly make someone a grown ass man. Experience and wisdom gathered over a number of years does. I'm 53 and I look at myself at 19 and think "What I wouldn't give to have a hot tub time machine to travel back in time and smack my dumb ass upside the head."
It's a big part of why I don't like the one and dones. I mean, I look at my son and his friends, as smart as they are, and I think, "give them millions of dollars and turn them loose on the world? No thanks."
