These aren't "rankings" per se. Rankings generally have some sort of mathematical basis. These are opinions of one guy. Opinions are like A$$holes....everyone has one.

He is entitled to his opinion, but I can't say that I would agree with St Louis, Arizona, Jacksonville, Oakland, Kansas, Tennessee, Tampa and Minnesota all being ranked higher. All these teams have starters that have no better pedigree or performance history than Bradford, and their backup options are generally much worse. More importantly, their projected wins is worse in early Vegas betting lines.

If you think this is too low for the Eagles’ quarterback situation, I can tell you someone who doesn’t: Chip Kelly. The league’s first 30-minutes-or-less general manager spent the spring trying to redecorate his quarterback room, culminating in an extraordinarily-public pursuit of Marcus Mariota. Chip never came close to landing his college signal caller, leaving him with Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez and figment-of-your-imagination Tim Tebow. Bradford will start Week 1 … if his twice-torn left ACL is healthy. That won’t even be the hard part. Bradford is a 58.6 percent passer, with an equally uninspiring 6.29 YPA and 79.3 QB rating to boot. Bradford was never set up for success in St. Louis, but those are troubling numbers for any quarterback with 1,760 career throws. There’s still untapped potential in the No. 1 overall pick of the 2010 draft, but we don’t know if he’s the answer in Philly any more than Kelly does. Kelly’s actions are louder than any words when it comes to evaluating the Eagles’ quarterback situation.

This is just so wrong on so many counts. Basically just one huge flame.
- 30 minutes or less...Nothing to do with the QB selection.
- Extraordinarily public pursuit of Mariota...The media went nuts over this one. There really is virtually no public statements from Kelly regarding Mariota in the months leading up to the draft.
- Figment of your imagination Tim Tebow...I don't even know what that means? Is Tim Tebow imaginary?

I agree on Jacksonville, but the rest should rank higher than us, based on past experience or upside. Carson Palmer certainly has a better history and pedigree than Sam Bradford for example. Mariota clearly has more upside than Bradford, which is why Chip tries to trade Howie's left nut and half the roster for the guy. Carr and Bridgewater showed a lot of promise last year, which is why those QB situations are seen as better than ours.

I don't mind some low expectations. Will make it that much more sweet when this all comes together. Thing is that this guy's expectations are really just his. The more objective analysts that make or lose money based on their opinions (i.e. Vegas) are expecting a winning season out of the Eagles, which is simply not true for the other teams I listed. And we all know, you don't win in this league without good QB play.

He has Tom Brady #9 and Jamies Winston above Phillip Rivers.....let along having Rivers ranked #16

That sealed it for me....This guy is a moron.

I agree that the Brady and Rivers rankings are odd. But keep in mind that Brady is suspended for the first four games, and that Rivers has contractual issues with San Diego and was reportedly threatening to retire if they moved to LA.

So trying to figure out if we should value Patrick Daugherty's opinion more than most. He seems to be a 20 something writer from St. Louis who makes a living doing Fantasy Football articles and rankings. Lately he has delved into doing some of these "rankings" for Coaches, GMs and now QBs.

Most likely he is a frustrated Rams fan who made the mistake of drafting Bradford for his Fantasy team and now will never forgive him.

Attacking the messenger now? It's obviously just one guy's opinion but I thought it was interesting. I seriously doubt any Rams fans are losing sleep that they traded Bradford. They are all excited about Foles.

When the "rankings" are really just one man's opinion, than the messenger is relevant. He is not a reporter with a message. A Mayock or King has some cache as they are full time, nationally known writers and have access. A guy like Dilfer, Bradshaw or Aikamn is relevant as they played the position. A guy that does Fantasy Football rankings? Shoot, I have been doing that for over 20 years (unpublished). For opinions, you're not the "messenger", you are the product, and without a pedigree, your product isn't worth much.

You have to rank offenses when ranking QB's. Bradford in this O is going to make a lot of people look dumb.

Systems make players ... this is a QB friendly Offense similar to his college system and he finally has a solid OL in front of him. Then add what should be an excellent running game to take much of the pressure off to carry the team. While Bradford likely won't challenge yardage records I think he ends up with a career high completion %age and around 25 TD's. Look at Sanchez' number of 300 yard games and completion % last season ... all career highs and he only played part of a season.

I think Bradford could do great here, but we should have drafted Bridgewater last year.

Hard to draft a QB in the first round when your QB just had a year with 27 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Not saying I disagree with you but I understand why they didn't.

I understood it to, but only Chip knew how little he liked Foles' game and in that case he should have considered the franchise QB that was staring him in the face. Teddy is a stud and Zimmer/Bridgewater is a great combo to build a franchise around. I hope they don't end up in our way in the playoffs too often over the next decade.

Don't disagree but this may be the reason Chip wanted control of what players he picked. This could easily be put on Howie. Marcus Smith or Bridewater doesn't seem like a hard decision at all. hehe

I get this strange feeling the first time Sam gets hit in that ACL, he's going to pull a Nancy Kerrigan....sitting on the turf, grabbing his knee and crying "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?" :bawling:
