They would really give up on Harden already?

SAME thing I said. I mean these are just rumors and all, but the Harden trade talk is being talked about by alot of people. If they clear enough space, I'd just go after Lebron first, then Melo(if Lebron says no). If they DID do a sign and trade, Miami or New York would come out with a HAUL to say they lost their best players

Depending on the roster, I could easily make a case for wanting Harden over Anthony.

I get Lebron over Harden in terms of if you wanted to get rid of Harden to get Lebron but Melo over Harden? They're both the same type of players. Both are great on offense but their defense is trash. Difference is Melo can do more on offense while Harden is more of a playmaker.

Harden is a better player, Melo is a better fit with LeBron.

First there is the whole friendship thing, but second, Melo has developed into one of the best catch and shoot players in the league. Harden is much better shooting off the dribble, and he is not that great playing off the ball. This makes a lot of sense to me.

Yeah, the hardest adjustment for the Heat is that Lebron and D-Wade are essentially the same player. Harden is D-Wade minus the defense.

And better shooting, but yeah.

At the same time, Harden is 24 and Melo is already 30.

Yup Harden has yet to enter his prime while Melo probably has a few more years left in his prime

That's the part that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. 'Melo is who he is, but Harden still has time to improve and become at least a serviceable defender.

LeBron does not care about long term, because he will be out again in 3 years. Harden might get better, but he still does not fit.

You can hide Melo's inability to defend threes by forcing him to play the 4. You can't do the same with Harden.

Oh I agree about that. 'Melo's game definitely fits better with Lebron, but I'm not sure that you get rid of a young star player who hasn't hit his prime yet for a guy that only has a few seasons left, even if it means getting Lebron.

Well, if you were Houston's GM, would you rather be the 4th or 5th best team in the West for the next 7 years?

Or title front runners for the next 3-4?\

I agree. The whole thing is, it's all effort. That's what defense is is effort. Harden is just lackadaisical on defense. There are so many times where he simply loses track of his man because he's not paying attention. This is the only reason why I criticized Durant for making those comments about Wade last offseason. Harden's clearly the better offensive player, but Wade is by far the superior defender.

But like you said, Harden has time to put it together.

Being a GM some times calls for making gambles like this.

Melo with Bron makes the most sense, they would play great together and have in the Olympics. They would be unstoppable like when Wade was a couple years ago except a better shooter and less D.
