Obviously at the end of the day, this is just sports, it's a hobby. But when we're talking about bandwagoners that's the main difference. Just a bunch of fake fans who talk smack every year because they pick the best teams every year. That's probably why people find it hard to argue with you guys, you aren't even real FANatics, you don't go all out for one squad.
Well I picked the Lakers to win it all. I also only talk smack when someone talks smack to me. I'm not delusional and think my favorite team is going to win it when I know they cant. I root for team I like with players I like and cheer like hell when they win. I do have a question that really puzzles me. Why would I want to be fanatic about something that doesnt contribute to my bottom line? I mean if you had a heart attack right outside of Staples Center would they make sure your family was taken care of and your kids put through college?

This is the worst argument I have ever seen on these boards. Who gives a flying crap in the end run? Root for whoever you want and everybody else can root for whoever they want.

I root for many different teams, too, if that makes me a "bandwagoner" then that's what I am and if you don't like it, that's just tobad. I didn't ask for your opinion and I still aint.

I agree. Root for who you want to. If youre going to look down your nose at someone that doesnt believe in being a fan the way you do at least have a position to argue the point from that doesnt make me laugh at you.

If it doesn't contribute to your bottom line, then why would you ride the jock of an athlete that doesn't even play for your favorite team? Then celebrate with the other teams hometown fans as if you were a supporter all along? It's easy to be a bandwagon fan. I really don't care who you root for, I just disagree with the belief that you're every bit of a fan as someone who's pulled through with a team through the wins and losses alike. Kobe doesn't root for the Thunder just because Derek Fisher is on the team, I guess some fans like to be competitive in the same way, it's my team > everybody else's.

When did I say I ride anyones jock? I said I root for teams that I like and players I like. I root for them to win because I like how they play and carry themselves. What do you mean its easy to be a bandwagon fan? How do you know? I dont care what you disagree with I'm just asking that if you want to voice your opinion on what I believe then you better have a logical reason for your stance or I'm going to bust a gut at you. Sorry to be the one to break it to you but unless you are part owner its not your team. Thats some marketing sold to you on a platter so you feel like you're part of a group. Its a created illusion you have bought hook line and sinker. That is why I laugh when you get all high and mighty. BTW do the Lakers have a life insurance policy payable to your family when you pass?

LOL wow and you thought I took sports too serious, that's some funny stuff. So you're a bandwagon fan because you're a rebel to the machine? That's a brand new one.

Well you seemed pretty bent out of shape at the notion someone was a bandwagon fan. No. I'm part of the machine. You are as well. You just don't seem to understand that yet. You still have not answered my question though. Maybe if I put it to you differently it will make you think. I know you wont admit it but maybe it will turn on a light for you. What return do you get investing your heart and soul into a team that doesn't care if you croak right now?

I beg to differ. Tell the truth. How much free advertising have you given to line Dr Buss pocket? How much merchandise have you bought contributing to his family's fortune? How many jerseys do you own? Now calculate all the time spent talking aboutand watching the Lakers and think about how much more you would be ahead in life if you had shown that same devotion to yourself and your family. Kind of wakes you up doesnt it?

If anything the machine wants more fans like you, who aren't competitive and likes every other athlete that comes along and wins. Guys like you buy a hell of a lot more merchandise, I buy some Lakers gear, bandwagon fans buy every piece of team gear that looks "cool". The league runs off of LeBron dickriders.

I seriously doubt the league wants guys like me. I don't buy "gear". If I am going to promote something its going to be my business and not someone elses. What the hell do I look like doing free advertising for someone else and paying for the privilege? :laugh3: I bet you even got 1 of those team credit cards so you can rep your team will getting into debt. The league always has and always will run off of "true team fans". What the hell are you smoking?

Haha very true. It must get pretty expensive buying a Kobe jersey one year, then Lebron's, then in a couple years it will be Durants. Afterwards, he'll have to go buy a Andrew Wiggins jersey for when that kid takes over the leage in about 7 years.

Who the fck cares how we want to spend our money? If I want to go buy another Wade jersey I will. You ask why torture yourself over your team doing poorly. It's already been said, it makes you feel better when your team comes back a few years later.

After 2006, the Heat got swept out of the 1st round by Chicago in 07. The following year we went 15-67 and it was downright dreadful to watch most of the time. Fastforward to now and I can appreciate these years of the Big 3 so much better. Win or lose this upcoming season, I can respect everything Lebron's done for this franchise. I got to enjoy my team being the best and getting at least two titles out of Lebron.

I like Lebron as a player and wish him success where ever he goes. BUT.....I'm a fan of my team first and will only root for my team. If he joins the Lakers, Knicks, Nets, or Cavs (to name a few)....me being a Heat fan just cannot allow myself to cheer for him. I will not boo him, but I will not cheer for him if he decides to leave after next season.

Its actually not surprising to me that people would agree with Outlaws point of view. Thats one of the reasons politicians toy with the majority of the population. Its amazing to me people actually think its really "their team" and the owner really gives a shit about anything but you contributing money to create their family fortune. I'm all for enjoying basketball but when you really start thinking you're better than someone else because of the team you pledged your undying allegiance to....:L

You guys need to take an elementary course in economics and one in marketing. Please tell me you really do understand that the bulk of revenue comes from die hard fans that support only one team? Trust and believe I really don't give a fuck about what you buy. That wasn't the point. The point is that it only makes you stupid, not smarter or better than me like you think.

I like to see my team succeed. I'm going to spend my money on something, and that's what it is. The clothes you're wearing are going to someone who's rich and famous, as are the shoes that you're wearing currently (unless you're some hobo living under a bridge who happens to have an internet connection). Ever eat at a restaurant? Yep. Your money is going to someone who's more well off than you.

So what's your point?

My point is that your belief in what a being a fan means is your opinion. It doesn't make you more or less a fan. My clothes/shoes are a necessity to do business with and they are tax deductible. So is me going out to a restaurant. Even if they weren't food is a necessity. Jerseys are not. BtW I also enjoy seeing my team win.

And once again, you're on a sports forum getting into debates with other fans when you've admitted that you're not really a "true" fan of a team, but rather simply a bandwagon fan. So when someone calls you out on it, don't have a bitch fit about it.

IF the league will always run off of "true team fans", why would it be far fetched to consider it your team? Its not like fans think hey, this is my team so i have a say in player personnel. We consider sport franchises our team because of our investment. The return does not have to be capital gain for it to be considered a real investment, does it? If the "true team fans" die off what would happen to that team or the owners group?

You must have missed something. I dont have a problem being called bandwagon. I have a problem with people thinking they can criticise my choice to be one and me not bitch about it.
