Tanaka seems to be a TORP pitcher as well. Two really good pitchers in Tanaka and Darvish that should change the mindset of MLB owners of future pitchers coming out of Japan. There was a lot of negative feelings about them when Yu was first coming over to the MLB.

Tap the brakes on Tanaka for a bit. At least let him finish this season and throw some next year before we say such things.
Cause....remember Dice K?
He's a big reason why there were/are negative feelings...
Yu was far worse than Tanaka has been in first year comparisons. Not saying he will keep pitching at this level but I will stick my neck out and say he is no worse than a 2 in the rotation. I knew I would hear back about Tanaka but I would love to have him in our rotation.
Me too. I believe Terps is one that's not a believer in Tanaka. That split finger is nasty.
Any word on Mitch's second opinion? Should be having some sort of surgery soon.
Well, I'll fear the worst but hope to be pleasantly surprised. Surgery either way for him.Havent seen anything yet... just saw Tepid say "Wow." on twitter though.
But he quickly deleted it.
Has me worried. Or intrigued. Not sure which.

Maybe one day people won't bring up Dice K when they mention other Japanese pitchers.
Honestly.....there's only been like 35 pitchers from Japan to have played in MLB. I guess that huge contract some just can't let go of.
Everyone is high on Alfaro for good reason, but Telis just won defender of the month.
Telis, who turns 23 next Wednesday, appeared in 14 games behind the plate and started once at third base for the RoughRiders in May. Overall, Telis has played 31 games at catcher this season for Frisco and compiled a .990 fielding percentage (3 E/291 TC). He has also thrown out 15 of 55 (27.3%) would-be basestealers. At the plate, Telis is batting .328 (59-180) with 12 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, and 27 RBI. The Venezuela native currently boasts the highest average in the Texas League after batting .369 (38-103) over 26 games in May.
