I have my sound muted but I am sure I am watching the Miami broadcast. It was showing since May 13th that Miami has the 2nd best record in baseball and have thrown 5 shutouts.

Tyler Mahle is scheduled to face hitters for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery last May, which means Kumar Rocker could face them, too. Mahle and Rocker both underwent the procedure on the same day last May. Both threw three-inning intense bullpens on the game mound at Globe Life Field on May 18 so the Rangers could get biomechanical readings as they inched towards ramping up the throwing process.

Facing hitters in live batting practice is the final stage before pitchers go into games. Mahle said he expects to throw at least four “live batting practice” sessions before going on a rehab assignment.


Max Scherzer, who threw another bullpen session Saturday, could face hitters this week. Jon Gray could return from the IL before the end of the week. Gray, who was placed on the IL with groin tightness on May 22, threw a bullpen session on Friday, could face hitters in Arlington early in the week and be in position to join the Rangers rotation next Friday when the club faces the San Francisco Giants.

That gives him a total of 49 strikeouts in 31.1 innings this year. He was our 5th round draft pick last summer. The Rangers drafted him despite his 7.11 ERA in his last year pitching for Miami. I guess they liked what they saw in his potential.
