Mettenberger isn't making it out of the second round and the Vikings.. Now they may be lucky to be able to trade up unto the late second and get him.. Or trade back from the late 30's and pick up a pick or two

I wouldn't mind this kid in the 7th round. That would be a great addition to our special teams unit.

Hakeem Smith - DB - Cardinals

The Titans worked out Louisville S Hakeem Smith last week.

Smith was a four-year starter for the Cardinals, spending the last three of those campaigns next to the more hyped Calvin Pryor. Smith wasn't invited to the combine, probably because his measurables don't stack up. The 6-foot, 194-pounder runs the 40-yard dash between 4.68 and 4.77 seconds. Because he's tough and physical in run support, Smith might hear his name called in the sixth or seventh round.

Unless the Vikings pick a QB with the 8th pick. They didn't pick up Ponder's fifth-year option. LIke you, I also tend to believe they will wait in the 2nd round or move up late 1st round to get their QB. Some mocks have them taking DT Aaron Donald from Pitt in the first round.

Bingo, any chance he might be converted to SS. I don't think he has enough speed for FS. But he would be a very good addition on special teams.

After the AJ Jenkins fiasco, the 49ers would not be stupid enough to select Cody lattimer with their first pick as Peter King predicts they will, would they?

I don't understand your comparison of the two players. They couldn't be more different.

Besides playing in the big ten, what else do these two WRs have in common?

Yes. He plays the game with a lot intensity. He has mental makeup / tenacity to play SS in the league.

Kony Ealy - DL - Player

An NFL scout called Missouri DE Kony Ealy a "classic con man" who is "one of those 'let somebody else draft him' guys."

"He thinks he's already an Aldon Smith-type player," the scout said. "Classic con man. I don't trust this kid. He will be just a big pain in the (expletive). He's one of those 'let somebody else draft him' guys." A second scout called Ealy a "mess," while another said he could be a successful NFL player "if you got the right kind of coaching and put a boot into him." Ealy's versatility is appealing, but he's a candidate to be overdrafted in a weak defensive-line class.

Stephon Tuitt - DL - Player

One scout told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that Notre Dame DE Stephon Tuitt and Falcons DE Tyson Jackson are the "same guy."

"That's all he is," the scout added. "Big dude. Zero pass rush." Opinions vary on Tuitt. Another scout called him "athletic for a big man" but questioned his effort by saying "he just kind of wallows around." A third scout said Tuitt plays too "stiff" and "is not elite." 6-foot-6, 300-pound Tuitt projects as a 3-4 end like Jackson, but has more pass-rush upside and will likely be a top-50 pick.

Ra'Shede Hageman - DL - Player

One NFL personnel director told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he believes Minnesota DT Ra'Shede Hageman is a "boom or bust."

"He's everything you want but not a very good player," the exec continued. Hageman looks the part at a towering 6'6/310, but his work ethic has been brought into question. "He's raw," one scout said. "He plays high. He plays lazy. He's out of the game more than he's in the game." In a poll of 11 scouts from 3-4 teams, Hageman received five votes as the best 3-4 end in the draft. Hageman will almost certainly be a top-40 selection.

Odell Beckham - WR - Player

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini is "hearing" LSU WR Odell Beckham "won't make it" to the Jets at the No. 18 overall pick.

Jets fans are clamoring for Beckham or Brandin Cooks, but may have to settle for the latter, assuming GM John Idzik agrees with their roster assessment. "If the Jets want (Beckham)," Cimini wrote, "they'll have to trade up." Idzik knows his roster is among the NFL's weakest, so we can't imagine him pulling the trade-up trigger. He'll stay true to his board and draft the highest-rated player. We could see "ODB" going as early as No. 10 to Detroit or No. 12 to the Giants.

I'll like Fuller... this draft I'm almost OK with a lot of possible selections except for a FS in the first(sorry Sup).... obviously I'm not looking at OL in the first.... shouldn't either, the C spot can be taken in the 2nd or 3rd...

I'm definitely looking at CB as top need/selection outside of Clowney n Watkins.

agree on CB as our top selection. very much for BPA and it appears a CB will 'happen to be' our BPA.

as its been known for months, does make sense for a trade up similar to this. it may not be exactly Miami (Dallas or Baltimore?) or for Fuller (Gilbert or Denard?), but something very similar. granted, this does assume these other teams would be willing trade partners.

I'd be happy with Fuller. Niners will have to give the Dolphins pick #77 (3rd rd). It would almost be similar from last year when they moved up and drafted Reid with the 18th pick.

interesting look at NFL teams, and the strength of their draft picks. surprisingly (to me) the 49ers aren't first, second, third, or even fourth.

The Rams look good going in, any way we look at it. all we can do is select the right players. not concerned about trading up or down, or into the future. it boils down to the players you finally choose.
