Tavon Austin - WR - Player

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, there's "no way" West Virginia WR Tavon Austin would get past the Rams at No. 16.

That's been the sentiment for some time, but Austin is extremely unlikely to even make it to No. 16. The Rams seem to have realized this, appearing to lock in on Clemson's DeAndre Hopkins in recent days. Per La Canfora, the Jets "like" Austin at No. 9.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Orange

NFL insider Adam Caplan says there is "no way" the Bills select Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib with the No. 8 pick.

Caplan says the realistic option would be to trade up from the second-round "as I noted months ago." We wouldn't rule out the Nassib selection at No. 8, as there have been surprise quarterback selections in the early part of the first-round.

Justin Pugh - T - Orange

Syracuse OL Justin Pugh could move into the end of the first-round due to the run on offensive linemen, per draft insider Tony Pauline.

Pugh has been called one of the smartest players, at any position, in this class. Some will get caught up in his arm length, but Pugh works very well in tight spaces and has the posture and frame teams like. He could be projected as a guard or tackle in the NFL.

Jonathan Cooper - G - Tar Heels

The "general consensus" is that the Jets will select a G early in the draft, according to insider Tony Pauline.

Pauline also added the Jets "are looking for a weapon." Obviously Tavon Austin fits the bill, but don't be surprised if Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert is considered. Both Cooper and Warmack could be taken earlier than expected, especially considering the perceived positional value.

Sanders Commings - DB - Bulldogs

Draft insider Tony Pauline notes Georgia CB Sanders Commings is graded as a solid third-round pick by many teams.

Commings is a pure press man corner, and some have even suggested a possible move to safety. We think Commings projects very well to the Jagaurs in the third-round, but a number of teams could use his services.

And this is why I do not think he'd make a good corner in the NFL. However, he'd make one heck of a FS because of his intincts and his willingness to tackle defenders. Not a hitter but a sure tackler:

Jordan Poyer - DB - Beavers

Draft insider Tony Pauline has heard Jordan Poyer is being passed on boards due to speed concerns.

I'm taking this as a "draft related news" because of the impact it could have with regard to the #1 overall pick is concern:

Branden Albert - T - Chiefs

ESPN's Ed Werder reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that the Dolphins have "resumed dialogue" with the Chiefs regarding Branden Albert.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Monday the sides had had "little or no communication" in "almost two weeks," but urgency is setting in for desperate Dolphins contract-year GM Jeff Ireland. Werder confirms Kansas City wants one of Miami's two second-round picks (Nos. 42, 54). Werder reported Albert is targeting a deal worth $36 million over four seasons, which is more than what the Rams gave Jake Long and Texans paid Duane Brown. "He wants to be paid like an elite tackle," Werder stated. Ireland has enough job insecurity to cave.

Tyler Eifert - TE - Player

ESPN's Adam Schefter wouldn't be shocked if Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert was a top-10 pick.

It's a good time to be the consensus top tight end available. The position is all the rage in the NFL these days and teams are scurrying to get two talented ones on their roster. The Browns at No. 6, Bills at No. 8, Jets at Nos. 9 and 13, Dolphins at No. 12 and Steelers at 17 all have needs at tight end.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Player

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg is "very high" on Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib, and the Bills are worried the Jets will poach him.

As Sal Pal alluded to, the Jets "control the first round" to some extent with the Nos. 9 and 13 selections, either or even both of which could be used as trade bait for a coveted player such as Tavon Austin or if a top-five player surprisingly falls. Both the Jets and Bills have QB needs and are very high on Nassib. "I know one thing for sure in talking to people around the league," Paolantonio reported. "The Buffalo Bills want Ryan Nassib. But they're very concerned the Jets will take him later in the first round. So the Bills may be forced to take him at No. 8."

Jarvis Jones - LB - Bulldogs

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes the Jets are unlikely to take a QB in the first-round.

Cimini lists guard Jonathan Cooper, guard Chance Warmack, tight end Tyler Eifert, LSU pass rusher Barkevious Mingo, and Georgia pass rusher Jarvis Jones as possible targets. We find it interesting Tavon Austin's name is not mentioned.

Ezekiel Ansah - DL - Cougars

NFL Network's Albert Breer notes BYU pass rusher Ezekiel Ansah's name is "being bandied about" in the top 5.

"The Lions like him and he could be a target for teams looking to move up," Breer tweeted. The Lions coached Ansah during Senior Bowl week, and the BYU product lined up all over the defense while in school, showing promise from a variety of different angles. He can fit multiple schemes.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Player

Profootballtalk.com has heard the Bills fear the Jaguars selecting Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib if he slips to the 33rd overall pick.

There have been whispers of Jacksonville's interest in Nassib throughout the pre-draft process, even dating back to January. PFT's intimation is the Bills won't be willing to test their luck and let Nassib last into day two. There is also some fear the Jets will poach Nassib from their division rivals. Ultimately, we tentatively believe Nassib will be Buffalo's selection at No. 8 overall.

Jamar Taylor - DB - Player

According to TFY Draft Insider, the Falcons have "intense interest" in Boise State CB Jamar Taylor.

After letting Brent Grimes walk in free agency, the Falcons have a glaring hole opposite Asante Samuel. Taylor played all four years at Boise and then impressed at both the Senior Bowl and the Combine. He'd have an excellent chance to step right in as a starter for the Falcons, leaving Robert McClain as the nickel back.

Tavon Austin - WR - Player

ESPN's Todd McShay suggested on SportsCenter that West Virginia's Tavon Austin is in play for the No. 8 overall pick.

McShay said Austin is a hot name and he's "even heard in the last couple days there's a possibility that the Bills could take him at No. 8." We wonder if the division-rival Bills and Jets are jockeying against one another at Nos. 8 and 9. Word leaked early Wednesday that the Jets might poach obvious Bills target Ryan Nassib in the first round. Now, the Bills may be spreading word they're willing to select likely Jets target Austin before New York goes on the clock.

Desean Jackson and Tavon Austin and Jeremy Maclin = too much speed for any defensive back unit to handle. Add McCoy out of the backfield to that equation and it's a nightmarish situation for a defense:

Lane Johnson - T - Player

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio stated on Philly's 97.5 The Fanatic that he's heard the Eagles are targeting a tackle at No. 4 overall, with West Virginia's Tavon Austin as the primary fallback option.

Paolantonio's Eagles nuggets are always notable because he's covered the team for years and is so plugged-in. "Here is what a general manager told me [on Monday]," Sal Pal said, "‘I know the Eagles want a tackle.’ And if those are all gone, he said, ‘Don’t be shocked if Chip Kelly takes Tavon Austin No. 4.'" Because of his athletic movement skills, Oklahoma's Lane Johnson may be the Eagles' top target. Austin would be an exciting alternative. Related: Eagles
