DeVonta Smith, but since you asked Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith will eventually be pro bowlers as well.
Uhh…

If we’re going to be honest about it, Devonta Smith has never been a Pro Bowler.

AJ Brown was, but wasn’t drafted by Philly.

Maybe your Madden season was different though.

Just because teams later hit on other guys doesn't mean that blown first rounders aren't blown first rounders and squandered capital. Jalen Reagor was squandered capital for Philly for example, even though their WR position wound up just fine in the end.

That said, it's pretty normal for there to be lots of squandered draft capital in the NFL, and the Niners and other teams basically have to take big swings at the QB position. There is really no alternative.

SF is not worried about draft capital, not when you played in the conference championship and a fav. to be in the SB this year.

You can look at how they've treated other positions to see they don't care much about draft capital. Trey Sermon vs Elijah Mitchell in that same draft is a big one.

Sucks to have given up so much to move up to get Lance, but that's countered by Purdy's extreme draft value as Mr. Irrelevant.

That’s fair too. Honestly, I’d take a flyer on him for a 4th or 5th round pick because he’ll actually have a chance to develop with the Eagles.

A day 3 pick (and maybe a conditional pick?) seems appropriate, and I would guess there would be many teams willing to take on a project QB with his upside potential. Could McVay fix him? Daboll?

I think I would take him over Mariota today, lol.

If waived, he'll get picked up as a project somewhere as well.

Huge swing and a miss, but didn't pretty much everyone think giving up what they did for Lance via the trade and the pick to take him was dumb in the first place? I don't think he will ever be even an average NFL QB and certainly won't likely be able to perform well in Shanahan's Offense. Maybe get him in one of these simpler read option offenses and he can do it, but I don't expect it

If the 49ers prefer Purdy, (who can't be 100% yet), to Darnold then that says a lot about Darnold's playing ability. I can see Darnold being a backup for 2 years and then calling it quits.

It could only happen if the 49ers take on the $2.8M roster bonuses. The Eagles don't have $3.7M in 2023 cap to spare.

You sure? It’s my understanding they are under by about 10-12 million at this point.

Hate to say I told you so

But Mac Jones was the guy and you didn't need to trade up to get him

Of the two or overall? Patriots fans seemed on the verge of dumping him for Zappe last year...
