Your sample size is one year? Sure, he had a better year last year but how about the previous 3. Carr was better and that isn't saying much bc I don't think Carr is a world beater.
The Giants fucked up declining his 5th year option. They would have one more season with him at $22M I believe. Daniel Jones isn't worth $45M/year on a long-term deal.
New regime and system. They declined that option way back in April before seeing him in their system, and the decision made sense at the time. He did enough to be brought back, and now they have to weigh their options. I doubt Carr or Rodgers are going to the Giants without an overpay (either via contract or trade value). Giants have $43M in cap space for 2023.
Median QBs will continue to be overpaid every year. Demand is greater than the supply. For the 2023 crop, Lamar is going to be $50M+. Carr has multiple suitors already. The others are Jones, Jimmy G, and Geno (who I doubt is going anywhere) before you hit the backup tier.
The below article projects Jones to get up to $35M per, virtually the same range as Carr.

QBs fly off the board in the top 10, while edge rushers and cornerbacks are two of the top drafted positions
