gut is telling me we may use the trade deadline to unload a few pieces. might put a package around Perez and bring back a quality corner OF
Would a team be wanting to trade for a very shirt term pitcher and be willing to give up a quality OF? Now, maybe we could include him in a three way trade where we get a quality OF. Although, I think if we were going to go after a player like that we might have pursued Suzuki.

Well, "quality" OF might have been an oversell. Competent is probably more accurate. Basically someone who is a step up from Calhoun

Wait... we did pursue Suzuki, right?

I think from what they said eventually, that they were not planning on going after any higher quality guys after Seagar. I guess that is why we never saw the Rangers mentioned as serious pursuers in any of the trade rumors concerning Suzuki or anyone else after the lockout..

I think they probably feel they can obtain that level of OF from their system. Between Taveras, Thompson, Smith, and Harris I think they probably feel confident that at least one or two will be a step up from Willie. I guess we can throw in Wendzel and Duran into that group as well. If nothing else we have a lot of guys to get a look at through the end of the season, so we might not want to trade for a competent level guy just yet.

other than Taveras and Thompson i think we'll see the others get time in the OF at AAA and AA not up at MLB level. other than Duran & Taveras all of the other would mean make 40-man roster moves

The Rangers need a lot of subtractions and additions before becoming a serious WS contender. One of those is the manager.

Maybe we can trade Martin for a draft pick? Lol jk

Or maybe just trade him for a couple of young prospects that still have plenty of time before being rule 5 eligible. Keep the pipeline fed with talent for 2025+

first coach on the chopping block needs to be the "offensive coordinator"
come on you have to have some reliable offensive tools before you can blame the "offensive coordinator". the first person to go should be the GM who failed to sign offensive tools

I'm of the opinion he's more likely to stick around. Between injuries and subpar performances, the Rangers may need a guy they can trust to go out there and give them 6 a game.

sorry but that's crap. "lack of tools" isn't the problem. they hired a coach specifically to maximize offensive output. there is no reason this lineup should be struggling to get to 3 runs a game.

I think Garver, Semien and Seager were tools added this year and simply not getting it done. Yep we need a hitting coach.

Calhoun (take your pick which one)
Miller
Ibanez

and who expected Lowe to be our best hitter
and who expected Semien and Garver to be struggling.

and we're scoring 4.37 runs a game but giving up 5.75 runs a game

Possibly.. it is nice to have a veteran that can go 6 and can be somewhat trusted to perform.

this is a good year to filter through some of The SP prospects though and see who’s going to stick. Mid season would be a good time to start building out a future rotation and promoting a few guys. Cole Winn, Otto, Alexy, Burke, will be accompanying Jon Gray, Dane Dunning, Hearn and Richards atleast for another year.. lots of SP only so many holes.. Hearn could and should go back to the pen. Alexy maybe destined for the Pen as well with his BB issues.
