Well it's not a WR, yet? We'll have to wait and see? Maybe the next Edellman or Welker with the two conditional picks they get?

I do think stats are part of the sum total. But as we've seen and you have pointed out, they certainly are not the be all, end all.

I'm still puzzled how BB and comapny can find receivers in the late rounds or on the FA scrap pile and make them stars. Yet can't draft one of any talent in the first round.

Time to fire the scouts? Would love to see how much weight and input each coach, scout, Director of Personnel, Director of Football research has had over the years with BB.
You know you make a point that i literally was wondering the other day. No one finds free agents, scrap pile guys, and late round picks like bill. But his early round picks , lets say rounds 1-3 generally arent good. Its baffling. He has control, so i wanna say its him. But it doesnt matter , he wins. But man if he could hit a few early rounders, just imagine where he would be…

I just posted about this. How much influence did his scouts, coaches, dir of personnel, dir of football ops have?

He's the final say. But like some of his onfield decisions I think maybe he can over-analyze?

NE may not have a clear cut number one right now but they have a lot of talent at WR. Mainly 2 and 3s. Guys who can contribute on STs and now Harry, after having a decent camp/preseason is injured. So they have a lot of decisions to make.

I'd like to see NE trade a RB for a quality WR. NE is fat at RB.
I don't see it but I guess time will tell

There definitly have been Great picks, good picks, bad picks, reaches, dice rolls and such. He kept a team at the top of it's game after many years of drafting at much lower position. That meant he had to take risks.

There are a lot of things you cannot do well without taking risks.

Try to win on the battlefield with your ammo safely locked up!

I understand that. But alot of his early picks have failed. Have they not?

An expected amount? More than the average top teams?
After the draft everybody gets a B or a C except the worst teams. Oh, and the local fave of the writer.

Not sure why your’re adding on. Did his top
Picks work out. Period. Say the first 3 rounds. Not draft grades, not about takkng risks or making things work, did he draft well in early rounds?

You are equating "draft well" with "success"
Patriots drafted very well this year. There will be no room for some of those players.

U dont know how they drafted this year yet. But you know that. Youre spinning.

yes teams that draft well generally do better. Teams with great coaches generally do well. Is this new knowledge?

Lets go with 2006. Terrible first 3-4 rounds.

Now you are cherry-picking.
Look, I reallize that N'Keal Harry was not a good pick. It has made BB's drating leave a bad taste. There have been others.
It does not matter whether you see glass half-full or glass half-empty. Still justhalf a glass.

Look at 2018. We took Isaiah Wynn and Sony Michel,
Isaiah went down with injury and everyone screamed bad pick. He is now a very good LT on the best O-line in NFL (arguably)
Sony helped us win a Superbowl when we needed a RB. We are not so needy now. Everyone screamed about Sony as bad pick. Is he?

What’s even more weird is BB drafts these crazy athletic WRs with size early in drafts but finds WRs like Troy Brown, Edelen, Welker or Amendola, Gronk, David Givens

Brady made some of those guys really good tho

Deion Branch the only early WR pick that ever did anything?

Whose cherry picking now. Theres plenty of years…. I didnt say he never had a good draft or never picked good players…yes sony was a bad pick.

Why was Sony a bad pick?

31st overall when NE needed a RB.
He averaged 900 yds on the ground in his first two seasons. His 3rd season he only played 4 games IIRC? He averaged 6.5 TDs a year on a Tom Brady led team. As Southie mentioned he also helped win that SB, scoring the only TD.

All in all, minus his durability he was a decent pick.
