I’m Guessing hahn is picturing that royals 3 headed monster. Kopech the 7th, kimbrel the 8th, and liam in the 9th

And sometimes Kimbrel in the 9th, if Hendricks has been used a lot. Remember the 2015 Royals with their big 3 in the pen? Sox have that now.

It's always a shock when the news first hits, and to get anything of value you have to give up something of value. But in the total picture I think this deal works.

I'm in full agreement in the short term. We should now have the overall best pen in the AL, if not all of baseball. But I had to emphasize should because prior to the start of the season, I thought we already had the best pen. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I mean, they upgraded the pitching big time. It's the best in the AL now. For the playoffs I'd rather have that then a better offense. And healthy this offense is plenty good.

I doubt I'll ever be completely happy with this move, but I'm beginning to understand why Hahn/Williams pulled the trigger. One thing that should be noted and which I forgot is that as much of a fan of Madrigal that I be, he does tend to get injured an awful lot so far in his early career.

And again, it's not like they won't have anyone at 2B. All that's 'lost' is the delta between Madrigal and who they have now, and that is nothing this year (negative actually with Madrigal out) and next year it's not that much either.

Madrigal isn't some future HOFer either.
