You now have a legit big man that can move to PF (where he wants to play) and have Gafford and Lively at C. The Lakers future looks great (in post-Bron era) but Dallas has a 3-4 year window to win it all.

They do. But 4 years from now Luka will be about to turn 30. AD will be about to turn 36. AD isn't going to be LBJ playing into his 40's. The Mavs do have about a 3 year window till AD and Kyrie are 35 but their time is definitely now

Imo, this is a "win now" move by the Mavs.

They must figure that they aren't winning a title with the Luka/Kyrie pairing and also that he was leaving when he became an FA.

They got better defensively without losing too much offense.

This gives the Mavs a big who fits well with Kyrie offensively and is an elite rim protector. Christie is young, athletic and has become a solid defender. His offense is developing nicely as well.
