I took it before and don't remember what I got, but I missed like 15-20 I think, a lot I had never even heard of before.

28 but I protest it not accepting The Grudge instead of the original title Ju-On.

Plus, while the term "scariest horror of all time" is extremely subjective, I don't think anyone that the The Mothman Prophecies has ever been described by anyone as scariest anything (unless a "not" preceded it). It is barely even horror!

I got 26...but I gotta admit that I just started putting in names of horror movies I know and lucked into more than a few where the quote alone wouldn't have got me there.

I was convinced that I need to watch more than the first episode of Castle Rock. I don't think I even finished the first episode.

Re-watched Queen of the Damned during my my workout a couple days ago.

It is still basically a hollow, soulless 1.5 hour music video that sadly led us into the Twilight era. I enjoyed Interview With a Vampire (despite the Tom Cruise factor which was kinda mitigated), but QotD was a slick, poorly written script that takes itself way too seriously for the schlock that it is. Some nice costumes, good sets, some fxs are good but other fxs are just kinda laughably dumb (like the vampire's movements). Soundtrack has some nice 90's pop metal moments.
Generally speaking, fuck Anne Rice. Her stories are just not good.

A 4.5 out of 10 from me. Watch it if you are forced to by goth chicks, or have a weird Stuart Townsend fetish (you sick fuck!)

So I spoke about a movie called Psycho Goreman that I said looks like a kids horror movie though it was not rated. So I took a chance, bought it, and me and the kids sat down to watch it. It is about a brother and sister who discover a gem buried in their backyard. They go on to investigate and it turns out they released a universal destroying demon of sorts, with that said whoever controls the gem controls the monster. The kids just use him to show off and have fun with, however across the universe, the entities that trapped the monster away are made aware and a plan is hatched to either kill him this time or trap him away again. That's the gist.

There was no real bad language that I can remember, there is actually a running joke in the movie as all the characters are sayin 'friggin' or 'frig you' instead. With that said... it is not for kids LMAO. There is a fair amount of gore. The acting is pretty bad (especially from the parents) in this movie, but you really have to forgive a lot in this movie as it is a hardlined comedy more than horror with strong childrens elements. It feels like this movie started with the idea that 'What if the Power Rangers had tons of gore in it' and then they just formed around that lol. The costume designs feel very Power Rangery - not in looks, but in design, from the shows lol.

This sounds ridiculous, but this movie knows what it is and if you can get past the bad acting and see it as essentially a very bloody, gorey, children's comedy... then I think you will appreciate it. Most of the comedy is silly, I do believe it was intended to be made for like the 10 year old to pre teen type. If any of you take a chance on it, the cop that got 'transformed/messed up' had me cracking up.

It is solid, but you definitely have to recognize what it is early on to truly appreciate it.

It wasn't a bad movie, just not scary. The mothman was a harbringer of misfortune and not a horror creature. It was far more supernatural mystery than horror.

Maybe my view is a bit jaundiced from my own expectations going into it?

One thing I didn't get was why the movie decided to use 36 as the victim count from the bridge collapse. The real bridge collapse killed 46. Why reduce the count when using to larger number from a real, actual tragedy would seem to have a larger emotional impact.

It's been a while since I have seen it. I knew it was based on real events, but I never looked up the numbers for accuracy lol.

Lol I watched this trailer over the weekend. Can't remember on which platform I stumbled upon it, but yea it was a pass for me at the time. But you affirmed everything I gathered in the horror comedy for pre-teens/teens. I am surprised to hear that it had lots of gore. That almost makes me want to give it a shot.

Block Island Sound (2020)

Strange movie that features a mish-mash of slow-burning sci-fi subgenres. Early on it builds up as some sort of aquatic creature feature, then it flip-flops by taking on psychological/paranoia vibes and also pushing a paranormal/possession mystique. The movie gets rather exhaustive in portraying the clues for the viewer to unpack the mystery, but it was a necessity given the nature of this film's plot & climax. The movie labors itself through a lot of this mystery & 'events' to which it prevents itself from ever feeling dull, however there really isn't much suspense so its very hollow feeling. It tries to build that suspense but it just doesn't sustain itself very well between the important moments. The cinematics were pretty solid though. I did like how they framed a lot of scenes and used some clever visual techniques to capture blackouts & time-ellipses. The climax/reveal was unique and I like that it challenges the viewer's perception of the human condition. It doesn't spell it out for you, but it gives you plenty of clues to figure it out. So be forewarned that it may frustrate the casual viewer.

The acting doesn't seem too bad on the surface, but it gets very wooden in some moments (like when the mom discovers her daughter screaming in the middle of the night). The sibling relationship felt authentic though, and it was a good driver for Harry's character arc. The resentment & conflict further pushed Harry into isolation & paranoia. His descent into madness was faintly grounded by his sister & his niece, but also kept the stakes high.

The slow burn effect is somewhat of a problem for this film, especially considering how confoundingly confusing it can be with all the subgenres it features. But it does have some decent thought-provoking moments and X-Files vibe that makes it semi-memorable. I wouldn't consider this movie horror, and I have a hard time considering it a thriller even though thats what it should be. It's one of those movies that is only good for a 1-time viewing as knowing the outcome diminishes what little suspense it holds. It's worth a throwaway watch, but you have to be in a mood for a slow-burning mystery. Don't force it because I could easily see people end up hating it.

Slow burn sci-fi with multiple subgenres... 5/10

Death of Me

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. This movie should have been WAY BETTER than it is. They took a good idea and just...destroyed it into the oblivion. The trailer and movie beginning just suck you in...And then...Well...It just didn't work...at all. I hate movies like these because you WANT them to be good and you stick it out until the end...and then the inevitable regret.

Maybe somebody else will take the idea and improve upon it. Horror genre's always good for that kind of copycatting...Usually the other way around though where the movie gets sh*tter with the 2nd...3rd...237th attempts...

2.5/10...and I think I'm being generous.
