2021 was always a pipe dream to me but if that is truly the goal then alot more needs to be done this winter to reflect. This system isnt gonna churn out a bunch of solutions in the next 12 months. That takes time. And if you dont want to spend the time, spend the money. Stop half assing everything

That is not really a huge shopping list

Jedi will get it done..

And here is the big..question
Is gilbet ace material..he may be...

And if not cole.then who...i dont see another ace..in the free agent market

So we may have to wait on that..

That leaves medeocre RHPs..middle of the order guys
To get..in free agents

A 3b solution..would be big..

This was what I didn’t get about last year. The organization they need to follow was the Cubs and Yankees. Forget the Astros. You eat as much salary as possible, then just like the article on Haniger you take on really bad contracts but get semi decent prospects with it. Instead of wasting $8 million for a one year rental on a relief pitcher or fill in the blank use that money to buy a prospect.

Good thing I read the older posts on this thread because I came here to post this article. The returns proposed by that article I'd be happy with. I do still believe that Haniger does need to re-establish his trade value though because right now the Mariners could be selling low.

I just wish that we had the prospect depth at SP that we do in the OF. If we didn't have so many promising prospects in the outfield I'd say to hang on to Haniger.

With Haniger I’m actually ok with doing a salary dump for a guy like Price or Myers as long as they get a top 4 prospect back. Otherwise Jerry is a moron and should be tarred and feathered. You don’t take on a ridiculous contract while giving up a dude who was an all star and club control. Worst case scenario take the number 4 prospect of some other team and flip them at the deadline with say Gordon at the deadline, perfect scenario flip that prospect instantly with Seager.

I'd be surprised if Dee Gordon is still on the team to start the season. Every article I've read indicates that he is highly unlikely to be on the opening day roster because the Mariners want to give opportunities to Shed Long at 2B.

I'm still convinced that Seager is untradeable unless his 2020 performance is the equivalent of his 2019 second half.

I worry that if Jerry starts smelling the playoffs come 2021 we're doomed to make another Erik Bedard type trade for a starting pitcher. Even if our pitching prospects + Kikuchi/Marco meet the highest of realistic expectations, we won't have a rotation capable of carrying this team through the playoffs.

If a high lvl 2b.(like a AAA guy).was in some way acquired..

I would look for gordan to be traded
Shortly after
It may ..happen.anyway
But there is not a lot behind
Gordan and long.......yet..

What would happen...
In the case of injury....

Lewis..LF
Smith...cf...LHHitter
Haniger..RF

If..you can see..where im going here..most likly..they will not trade anything
Unless...it is for..RH pitchers

Or
They will go free agents..for the RH
Pitchers

Trades..are more likly..at the july
Trade deadline....
Gordan...for sure..then..if not before
And
Possibly
Haniger..then..would be more likley than now

The only reason Seager is untradeable is because of his contract. Everyone said the same with Verlander until the Tigers ate enough of the money. If the Mariners paid 90% of the contract he is very tradeable. And no better time in Mariners history is it that the Mariners can afford half of their salary dedicated to people not on the roster.

Gordon being gone is fine but his return is going to be less than what Seager can get if the Mariners toss money in equally. Gordon is at best a role player on a contender. Seager is a starter on a contender and has proven for at least 2-3 months of a season can carry an offense.

The only trade i can think of would be atlanta..seager for

One of there 3b guys..they have a few..and a pitcher would do
And the mariners eat..some money

Seagers contract is garanteed till 2022 if he gets traded.(per trade rumars)
I dont think anyone cares about that part..except seager..

I think the Mariners are going to be comfortable with Shed Long getting a chance at 2B next season. It's a small sample size but I thought Long played pretty well in 2019.
