It's a great dream we have on the M's targeting Cole this offseason, but reality is Dipoto is going to keep that salary cap down around $100 million I believe. Plus you have to think Cole ain't chasing a the biggest payday, he wants back to a World Series and the Phillies, Braves, Yankees, and Soxs give him that best shot.

With Haniger I’m actually ok with doing a salary dump for a guy like Price or Myers as long as they get a top 4 prospect back. Otherwise Jerry is a moron and should be tarred and feathered. You don’t take on a ridiculous contract while giving up a dude who was an all star and club control. Worst case scenario take the number 4 prospect of some other team and flip them at the deadline with say Gordon at the deadline, perfect scenario flip that prospect instantly with Seager.

that's the very definition of a perfunctory statement by jedi. shame on him.

believe me, i understand jedi and nintendo lite's objective. make as much money as possible while risking as little and putting as little effort as possible to building a good team. it clearly works because people have still kept showing up to games and watching commercials for decades.

i'm fine with being dead last in the standings for the next 4-5 years as long as i see a plan in the works. it's normal to see some of the best players with the most years of team control on your garbage team get traded a lot when that's happening. hold onto the 2-3 legit potential superstars you might get during that 4-5 years, and otherwise focus on loading the farm with prospects. worked for kc, worked for hou, and it's exactly how we should do it. last place sucks, but i'll take it over squeaking out 4th or 3rd place finishes with the idiotic idea that maybe we're just a couple of pieces away from having a contender.
