Schwenke is making a smart move. He's "retiring" because his time has come and the team is doing him a favor by placing him on the reserve/retired list so that he can get credit for 2019 before he officially quits.

Camp opens officially today and Schwenke needs to take the field to be creited with participating in the year 2019.

Making room for Mike Daniels? Though not sure the cap would handle his contract unless they redo Brady's?

Daniels was scheduled to Make $10.7M this year. As a former All Pro, I can't picture him signing for the veteran minimum with Patriots unless he badly wants a Super Bowl Ring. The Patriots might kick the tires but they're more interested in making sure that the offensive line is working rather than re-inforcing an already very good defensive line.

LDE Deatrich Wise Jr., Keionta Davis, Chase Winovich, Ufomba Kamalu
DT Lawrence Guy, Danny Shelton, David Parry, Byron Cowart
DT Mike Pennel Jr., Adam Butler
RDE Michael Bennett, John Simon, Derek Rivers, Trent Harris, Nick Thurman

If Daniels is signed, who goes??

He can be effective on the inside or the outside so I could see him replace a number of guys you listed.

As I mentioned it's all about the $ and I agree he's not coming over for league minimum.

I'm not the only one thinking it was a possibility.

Mike Daniels trade rumors: Chiefs, Patriots, Browns among interested teams

If he goes with KC or CLE then it'll be money and certainly not for a ring.............8^)

Both those teams could be contenders with or without him. It's not like he's going to Miami or Cincy.

Packers give up Rodgers and Daniels plus a block of cheddar in exchange for Brady, some hidden video footage of the Packers and the Chowder recipe from the Ogunquit House in Maine.
Aged cheddar?

The Patriots did talk with the Packers but thjeydidn't have the cap space to add him and they were not going to move salaries to make room for him. Daniels met with the Browns today and is meeting with a "secret" team tonight. Kansas City? New England? Rumors are swirlling that the Patriots will meet with him tomorrow and offer him $5-$6M. I don't know what they have for cap money, but I can only assume that they have a little money and he'd be a perfect run stopper for the D.

As it should be IMO

I don't disagree with you but.......$9.1M or $6M and a ring. If you've earned $10-$20M already and you're in your twenties, how much difference is $3M going to make when your 55? That ring will make a ton of difference in any profession or everyday walk of life. Especially if you earned with TB12 and BB.

Just my opinion.

Got to go with Ken on this one. $3M after taxes and agent fees or a ring with the GOATs. I'm taking the jewelry. Especially if it's a one year deal. BB always gets the best out of players which could increase his future earnings?

Yeah I get it a lot of Pats fans are sentimental about TB12 but in the end the 3mil and all the memories far away a damn ring.

That extra 3 million is guaranteed. The ring isn’t. I will take the money.

Exactly there is no guarantee the Pats win the SB this year.

There is no guarentee in anything. But NE has a higher chance of winning the SB than the Lions do today. Considering he signed yesterday that's a valid point. None of us know what will happen during the season.

Oh and it's not sentiment. It's being able to say you were coached by Lombardi, or assisted on a Wayne Gretzky goal, or stole the ball from John Havlicek...
