So we pay a mere 3rd rounder for him and expect first round picks when he fails here ? Right ! Not happening . You trade for him because he is an answer not a place holder

No...you pay a third and see if he can develop a bit. If he develops, then perfect. You can always trade the 2020 first rounder you were going to use on a QB. There is little next to no risk by trading a third for him.

Everything I've read says Elway is in love with him. Cooley says he's the second best QB in the draft behind Murray and there is a major dropoff after those two.

I agree. I don't think he will be there.

My take is the team really does not have a QB. We can say McCoy but he has yet to prove he can stay healthy.

It seems to me that the team should be looking for a QB. A 2nd or less for Rosen gives you a 2nd option at QB at a price the team can afford. If you don't like him in 2020 you look to draft a guy.

The thought that the team is going to draft or trade for one guy and be set for 7 -10 years is ludicrous. Why not try Rosen this year (unless you like someone in the draft better) and if he isn't what you are looking for you start looking for other avenues in 2020.

If Alex Smith were to retire then the Redskins wouldn't take the cap hit, right?

And having said that KB, Rosen would go #1 in this years draft. The devalue comes from AZ who wants Murray at #1.

True but no way in hell that is going to happen. All he is to do is basically show up, fail a physical & get paid a ton of $$. Nobody is going to pass up on that just to be a nice guy or some other similar reason. They are pretty much stuck with the cap hit regardless.

[Over The Cap] The Redskins Options with Alex Smith : nfl

A pretty good explanation here. Bottom line - they are fucked.

Whether you think Cousin's was overrated or not this entire scenario could not have gone worse. They could have made the trade if they didn't want to pay Cousin's but why in the world did Allen want to sign him to that ridiculous contract that has this team so hamstrung now. <sigh> … and the Snyder era goes on and on.

Just off the top of my head.

Rosen at the age of 21, had more wins and touchdowns as an NFL QB than Brady, Russell, Brees, Luck, Ryan, Rodgers and Roethlisberger combined.

and that means what ? that his TEAM was good enough to get a few more wins ? . look if i were going to make a trade to replace a franchise qb then a guy rosens age is one you can make .

but soon enough objective people will understand that wins are a TEAM stat not an individual one and as history has shown more often then not one guy wont carry a team in football. or win it by himself

you don't understand the fact of my post? imagine that.

btw, he had more wins as a QB in the league at 21 than our old QB you followed in HS.

You mean his team right ? And yes I get the meaning and I answered with a fact without invoking your boy . In fact I gave him credit for being a franchise qb

Hearing from who? You do understand that at this time of the year teams throw out all types of false information so that they can support their own agenda - rt? Don't believe most of the crap you are hearing at this time. We will just wait and see what happens.

Totally agree. My stance has always been that early on the Skins should have either extended Cousins long term (likely at a substantial savings) or made plans earlier to move on from him & find a long term replacement at QB (probably via the draft). Tagging him twice was just downright stupid.

I hope that they learned from this mistake, but I am 100% confident that they don't learn from any of their mistakes.

As I mentioned earlier, no matter how good you think Cousin's was or wasn't it is impossible to say he wasn't at the very least the best QB for the Redskins since Rypien. That is 20+ years. Considering how they bungled him and his contract or lack their of it is hard to imagine that they will get it right next time if they find another QB or any player to speak of.

Yep & I don't care if they loved or hated the guy - 2 years is plenty of time to come to a conclusion on him. Keep him for the long haul or move on. That 2nd tag will go down as one of the worst NFL FO moves ever (& has nothing to do w/ Cousins or his value).
