His high first round status is what the scouts are seeing on tape. I don't watch college ball and haven't watched most of these players play so I don't have a personal opinion about him. From what I've read I would rather take Bosa than Josh Allen. Allen is a bit concerning as a pass rusher which we really need.

Josh Allen had 17 sacks this year. He's going to be a stud in the NFL. No idea compared to Bosa but will say that Allen played in the bowl game and it would have been very easy for him to sit it out to not risk injury.

i didn't feel like clowney was a good college player. I always thought the few hits that were monster it what got him to be the first pick
And you were correct. His production has not been #1 pick worthy. People were so enamored with him and Watt on the edges, which on paper looked great. In reality, I would call it a failed experiment at this point which is also due to Watts injury issues.

That's what people are saying about Chandler Jones and Nick Bosa. On paper it looks great, but in reality...

Don's waste a # 1 pick on hype.

as far as the #1 pick. you have to see what trade options are out there and compare it to the talent. It appears to be a pretty weak draft class. The cards would be good if someone just blew it away at the combine and got an amazing trade package for that #1

I hope not. They are playing everything close to the vest. There has been no chatter about what they plan on doing with the #1 pick.

Well I mean still got combines, personal workouts, and all the dead time and rumors to go through....

I think you're in for a long wait on this...

Yeah, this is a weak draft class. Probably on par with 2013. I think the conventional wisdom is to just go get a good player.

We had these same threads with Bosa's brother.

No doubt. I was simply responding to his question.

I honestly don't doubt why your asking about Bosa,
I mean the idea of dropping out of the first pick and getting the extra picks for a team that has lot's of needs is and should be priorty one even for the mockers, but I know they don't do the trades in these things.

I'm probably not going to over-analyze this QB draft but at first glance I'm seeing something like:

Drew Lock = Derek Carr
Will Grier = Andy Dalton
Dwayne Haskins = EJ Manuel
Kyler Murray = Johnny Manziel

I kinda think Arizona is stuck taking the top defensive dude. It might not be Bosa but Bosa will go top 3

Watt almost had as many solo tackles in college his last year as Bosa had his entire college career.

...and the sack totals? It's besides the point anyways....

The point is, you can't just look at those numbers to see how a guy will translate to the pros.

I really think they are being more generous with Nick bc of how much they bad mouthed Joey. The injuries would concern me as well. Plus Nick had an ACL tear in high school. I will say without almost certainty that if he can stay on the field, you won't be disappointed

His stats are not #1 pick worthy. Some might argue that his 2018 stats are skewed because of injury.
My response... EXACTLY!

I admittedly am not a college expert, so can somebody please explain why he is the draft darling this year?

I really, really, really want the Cards to trade out of the # 1 position.

Cards should trade down, stockpile more picks... Unless there is some other ridiculous prospect sitting there, trade down ....

They probably need to pretend they're really interested in a QB to get people to trade up.

I don't watch college ball so I have to rely on what others have said. My concern according to others is that he lacks pass rush moves. My concern is whether he can have that same success against NFL lineman

I have read similar things about Allen. A lot of his sacks come on speed (which he won't have anywhere near that advantage in the pros) and some flat out free runs at the QB. It would've been nice if he agreed to go to the Senior Bowl so that Shanahan and co. could get a better view.

The only thing you can argue about is him going #1 BECAUSE of the injuries. He got doubled on a lot of plays. In comparison, here is Joey Bosa's numbers and I would say he is pretty damn good when he is on the field.

That's with 9 more games.

For a #1 pick it is, anyways. Give me someone with the production like Quinnen Williams over Bosa.

It's very rare you see a DT go #1 anymore, since the 80's. It's either QB, OT or a pass-rusher Last year their wasn't was in 1996 Keyshawn. A couple DT's did go in the 80's and they were busts.
